2015 1le tire question
I have a 2015 1le the rear tires are getting low and I would like to see if I can get some advice, thoughts, and experiences. I am torn on what to do. I'm trying to stay with a reasonably priced tire and seeing as how the Goodyears are currently around $300+ a tire a I would prefer to only by two. The front tires are still good so my first option would be to just get a set of rears. The next is to switch all four to something new. Im looking at ether the firestone fire hawk Indy 500 or the Nitto nt555G2. Any thoughts on which is the better tire?

I guess location was a determining factor for myself. In SoCal, extreme cold is rare and I don't like driving my Camaro in the rain (I have a Tahoe for that) so I decided to go OEM. My next set will include 305 rears since unfortunately I don't see much track time. Also, my conservative driving makes these G:2's last about 20k miles, good enough for me.

I would go with the 555 g2s, heard good things and that is going to be my next tire.

I put Firestone Firehawk Indy tires on my 1LE. Great tire for the money. Much better in the cold or rain. Ride has improved and traction is still very good

Why not the MP4S? Or are they in the category of not reasonably priced?

Well I've been debating it more and Im really leaning towards just getting a set of rear tires. My fronts have 6/32 tread (8/32 new) on them after a year. I definitely could get another year out of them. I guess the real question I need to ask is it worth the extra cost of getting something different. Are the firestones, nittos or michelins a night in day difference for better or worse? I like the goodyears other than I hate the rock storm they send up and I haven't had much luck with getting them to hook when hard accelerating. sorry if im being too indecisive.

I'm going through the same analysis for my 2015 ZL1. Narrowed it down to BFG's, Nitto's, Continentals or maybe Niken's. Will probably do the BFG's as they are readily serviceable at many places if needed up here. Hope to make the decision by Monday.

I noticed my rears last about half of the front. So my first set of rears I went OEM. Next time around when I needed all 4, I went with MPSS. Now I'm on MP4S. I can say the MPSS and MP4S are the tires that you have grip, and tread life. So you can have your cake and eat it too.

I also went with the Michelin MP4S's and while they are not the cheapest tire, the grip difference was huge from the BFG tires the previous owner had on it. I've only had them on one season of track days, drag racing and AutoX. I can't really notice much wear yet. I've been very happy with them.

How are the Michelins in colder temps. Living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, it is rarely above 80 degrees. Most of the time the temp is in the range of 55-75 degrees and the G2's suck in this climate. They just don't get warm enough to enjoy the car. I love the G2's when it is warm enough out, I just need a tire that is like one temp range colder if that makes any sense.

Did you make a decision on which ones? I am looking at the Nitto 555G2.
