Back in the '80s there were a lot of salesmen making $200-260k yr.
Now a lot of dealership principals are getting away with paying them $1-200 a car.
Once they hit a certain number per month or get spiffs on certain cars they make more, and of course they and the dealership make more on used cars.
The salespeople making over $200k a year are few and far between and are probably selling a luxury make. I blame the dealer principal, they have forgotten that the commissioned salespeople have families to feed also.

If you had read the thread you'd see he was NOT fired.

I really think the best course of action is repeated bad pub for this dealer if they DON'T disclose the damage. Kudos to my1stcamaro for this story. You've probably saved more than a few people from making a 60k mistake.

I'm posting the VIN# 2G1FS1EP2C9800804 here so that this thread hopefully comes up when a potential buyer does a search on it.

Is it my imagination, or did this thread completely disappear for a few days and now has re-appeared ????

Because I remember posting a reply, and now that reply is gone too.

Read the top. He said he posted it, then deleted and reposted it.

Does GM even know that the dealership is doing this? Has someone contacted them?

A ZL1 @ sticker has about $1400 profit, that will pay the sales person about 180 - 200 bucks. Contrary to popular opinion we don't make that much money.

Well Frank, I too have sold cars. If you are car salesman, you should know that if car is traded-in at less than value, when selling a used car you do not have to put a price on that car like the invoice on a new car. So if you can convince the person the car is worth more and you get as much as the bank will pay for that car. Also your take home is based on the amount of units you move that month. i.e.. 0 to 7 cars = 10% 8 to 10 = 20% 12 or more 35%. If you grossed $50,000 on the front end of the deal you take 35% of that home. Not counting bonuses for cars that have been on the lot for too long that are actually costing the dealership money just to sit there or even your cut off the back end of the deal for warranties and protection packages. Yes I know someone who pulled in $238K last year. If you need some guidance don't hesitate to hit me up because you say you are a car salesman, but you sound like a rookie.

It's absolutely possible.....I've picked up a few at the railyard in MD. All depends on the relationship with your dealer!!! That being said, this really sucks for the guy putting the deposit. When I picked up my last car, I witnessed them gouging a wheel as they backed it off the truck!!! Sometimes the actual day of delivery is more nerve-racking then the wait.
