Losing Connection

Okay - this is a weird one. The first thing that happened to me today was a "Service Stabilitrac" message kept going on then off then on then off. I ignored it for the time being until I could try some things I found in another thread on here.

The biggest issue I had today, and had once before, is somehow my entire car loses connection with the ECM, TCM, BCM and a ton of other things, throttle control, etc - I get about 50 codes thrown when this happens and the engine goes into "power reduced" mode. First time this happened was on a 70MPH highway - not fun, max speed was 35 MPH in the middle of a lot of traffic. Today it was on a back road, try pulling a hill in power reduced mode. Anyway, resetting the codes get the engine back up and running fine, but I don't understand why it happens. The first time it happened I was right next to a dealer and had them take a look and they asked if I had a power failure. If I did it was a split second, radio never went out, lights never went, its just like the engine didn't want to work anymore randomly. Any insight on this would be appreciated. The dealer said, again, it was a power failure, but the battery is fine. Also - it happens when you hit WOT for a couple seconds and then just full off. At least that is what happened the two times it happened to me.

Thanks everyone!

Hi Ricky. Sorry to hear you're having issues with your Camaro. The next time this happens to you you might want to see if you can get it into a different dealer to see if you can get a second opinion. Hopefully that resolves the issues. Please keep me updated on how things for you with this issue.

The problem is it is in power reduced mode so driving to a dealer with the codes in place is a bit dangerous, you can't move out of the way or anything and top speed is somewhere around 35 MPH - otherwise I would love to get a second opinion. The stabilitrac issue is almost constant now, every time I drive it. The car has to be driven for 50 miles or so then it just starts showing up whenever slowing down, whether brake pedal is pushed or not. I am now getting an SES light too for manifold absolute pressure, the car is getting a lot of issues at once and frustrating me quite a bit since my daily driver is in the shop after hitting a deer

sounds like your throttle body is closing too much.

Ricky you might be able to get your car taken to the dealer with Roadside Assistance. They should be able to get you all taken care of and your way to being repaired. If you're unable to get the vehicle to the dealer let me know and I'll do what I can to assist you.
