Finding a car you previously owned
Is it possible to find a current owner of a car to possibly buy it back using only a VIN # ?

It's really hard with all the new privacy laws in effect.

Nope, unless he is on this forum I managed to find previous one using FaceBook, but it's just s question of luck..
Although your dealership should be able to help but those people are not necessarily interested in.. |

And yes, talking about privacy - the current owner may not want to be contacted by previous owner, think about it.

Camaro: A Legend Reborn!!

Car enthusiasts who may want a history documentation do it all the time when they have purchased. There is a way, just need to know the right people. If you know what state the car may be in some states have a form to fill out to submit to the DMV, they will send you a history of owners. Yes you have to sign a privacy clause for this. If your looking for a car in your case the same may follow which depends on the state your in. A good place to start is a car fax, which narrows it down to the last time registered, owner moves, and possibly inspections. If it is a pre 80 I think 80 was the start of car checks your out of luck
