That's really old style Japanese - any idea what it's off of?
Looks like possibly WWII or earlier

The second line from the bottom is the date in Showa era (1926–1989) - Hirohito's reign.

Checking...

yeah, some really old style kanji (characters) - appears to be ship or submarine related.

My Grandpa showed it to me last week while I was visiting him. He said he got it off of a Mitsubishi Zero while he was in Japan during WWII.

He was curious to what it said. I will pass this information on to him.

Well if that's the case someone out could try to fly one of those T-6 Texan conversions and pass it off as the real thing..
