LSA blower - belt stretch

So long story short, my boost gauge is reading low boost up top (blower went from screamin to quiet too). This seems to be getting progressively worse. The K060960 gates belt is what's currently on the car ('14 - electric ps, and 2.75 adm pulley). So I buy a new K060960 from oreilly and sure enough the belt can fit inside of the belt currently on the car (only been on 3 weeks). Although not scientific, when I run them side by side one is nearly an inch shorter than the other as well (both have K060960 on them). After 30 minutes of bustin ass trying to get the new belt on, I can't by myself (tensioner just doesn't give enough for me to get it on sprawled out over the car). I pop the old belt back on in 20 seconds np so I know there's gotta be a huge bit of stretch or something.

Before I order an HD (green) version of this belt, should I go a size up or something? Anyone else with a 13+ SS and the 2.75 LSA setup got an opinion? It's a long ass belt and the hood scoops been open to rain so I assume its just abnormal stretch (rain guard is on order). I just can't imagine this belt A) needing Goliath and 2 people to get it on and B) stretching this much in such a short time if it was the right size.

Part of a blower. Belts stretch. Use the shorter belt you can. It should be a pain to put on by yourself. Yes they stretch that much. It sucks, you can replace belts often or upgrade the drive system if it slips after stretching.

Green belts are usually a bit shorter. I changed mine and it was a much better fit. As long as it is between the marks, it will be fine. I try to fine one an 1/8 inch smaller if possible...

They don't make the HD (or i can't find it) in the in between (62 and 66) sizes... just the 960 and 970... and I didn't want to jump up a full inch. If it's even shorter, I don't know how the hell to get it on. With the tensior full bore it still has to yank half an inch or more...

I understand that too, I just can't imagine such a mild setup having an issue this often/quickly. Im hoping a good belt (HD) and a rain guard would fix this.

I believe the correct belt for the stock SS lower and 2.75 upper is K061000. It's also available in the Greenback version you are looking for as K061000HD. The advantage of the Greenback HD belts is that they stretch very little due to the Kevlar outer material.

Hmm interesting.... that's quite a jump larger than expected. Any pictures of where your tensioner is? I ordered a k060970hd and will see how that does.

It's because you are using a different belt routing. I have a 2 50 upper and use a 100 inch belt

His belt routing looked good. The only area I didn't see was the ps pump routing, but I believe it's electric. Outside of that it appeared correct from his pic.

Maybe post a wider shot just to be sure...

Green belts do stretch, and I've found them to stretch just as much. They don't run smaller if you are comparing a new belt to a new belt.

The new gates racing belts are the ones that don't stretch.

Racing belt! Nice! My green belt vs non was an 1/8 inch smaller. May be just mine. Thanks for the info...

you're on a 2012... they have a manual p/s belt right? meaning it'd have to be longer to accommodate. I don't know how else you can route this long ass belt other than the way it is without rubbing/touching or something.

Do you have a part # or what exactly you're talking about? I'd like to look into it. I am looking to invest in a cam too which Andy suggested would help drop a lot of back pressure/boost reducing the stress/slip as well.

Correct, I have power steering. I've seen another post where someone had the wrong belt routing.

This is my reason for going to the lsa accessory drive. Not having to deal with belt slip

The gates racing belts are made to order in batches of ~50. Would have to have a gates distributor built them to size. Can't just call up and order one. Maybe see if Andy wants to fund the money to order a big batch of belts.

Send a message via AIM to DietCoke
Use the belt pull tool, it will help you get the belt pulled on. Same tool used to stretch the a/c belt into place. As pictured here.
