Yep, the 302 loved to rev. It did not have big power without the dual quad, cam, and headers. The Z28 was a little lighter than the big block cars, so it performed well with less power and torque. Another benefit is that it was a little less front heavy. Balance.

Back in the day the base 302 was faster than a 350/300 I agree, but not the higher horsepower 396es in a straight line. On a road track it was a different story.
