Camaro or Corvette
All,
I was wondering why everyone picked the Camaro over say a slightly used Corvette? I am not trying to start a war or anythings was just curious. I am trying to decide between a 2007/2008 C6 coupe (want Targa top..) or a 2012 Camaro 2SS.. I have driven the Camaro SS and really enjoyed it but have not yet had a chance to drive a C6, its hard to find a dealer that will let you drive one.. The backseat is not an issue since its going to be just me and the wife next year.. I see a lot of people on here have both so was looking for what you thought of both of them. Also what kinds of issues you have seen with either.. I am planning on getting one with the 6spd manual. Thanks! Gary |

I went with the Camaro because I already had a Corvette. Even today I still shop around and fathom the possibility of trading in the Camaro for an LS3 Vette. Either way you can't go wrong.
For me the main reason is because the Camaro is the "new kid on the block." The C6 Vette has been around since 05 and lots of people had them. The Camaro comes out and its more eye catchy then the Vette. Another thing is that for whatever reason, the Vette has always been labeled as a "mid life crisis" car, at least in this area.

Can't find anyone to let you drive a Corvette? Surely any dealer will let you drive one, especially a used one.
I drove my new 2007 Corvette before buying it, whats the big deal? |

I have only been to one dealer but they wanted me to be working on a deal and have financing in place before they would let me take it out for a drive.. Thought that was crap. will have to check another when I can.

Some dealers... you swear they don't even want to make money. I had a 2007 LS2 C6. Sold it in 2009 and got Camaro. Totally different cars. Corvette > Camaro in EVERY performance category. Looks and design I give to the Camaro because its new(er). The C7 is coming out soon so expect LS3 C6 prices to come down. If you can hold off and dont mind having a "old" body style, id hold off. |

Because I already had two Z06's and wanted a change. Still love the Corvette though!

I wanted 4 seats, even though I never use them, LOL.
Also I'm a Camaro fanboy. This is my 4th Camaro.

Yeah, especially when I first got Ginger. She was part of the first handful of new Camaro verts here in the DFW and I was giving SOOOO MANY rides to friends and family. It's nice being able to take three (sometimes 4) other people on a joy ride instead of just one at a time!

You can't go wrong either way. The LS3 Corvette is pretty sweet though. I've seen some high 11 second passes on them bone stock. The Camaro looks great too and really turns heads. Don't forget the C7 Vette will be out shortly too.

Probably neither one if you have to ask a bunch of strangers which car you should get.

I can easily afford a ZR1 but Vettes are not my thing. I have always loved 1969 Camaro's and when this body came out I knew I would eventually own one.

If I had to choose I would rather have a new 2012 2SS/RS camaro than an older corvette. Although I will admit a Targa top would be awesome!
Also, if you're a family man in the future, the camaro is obviously the better choice.
