Careless move, the GM engineer working with the tech advised they give it back to me...

DTC U0101 - loss of communication.

Based on this repair ticket it looks like a wiring harness issue. I wouldn't want to drive it knowing it can happen at any time. It's obviously a safety issue. I'd get GM on the phone and go from there.

Definitely! It's like playing Danger Zone every time I get behind the wheel of this thing.

GM has been extremely difficult. I've contacted them every time it's happened and when the dealer informed me of their recommendation. They continue to brush it off and tell me to contact them if it happens again....

I didn't get to explore the true limits of the car unfortunately. But my first session I got 3 laps in and was warming up to the car ran a 1:35. In the banking was hitting 130 by the exit and 140 by the bus stop, and was parking it through there - still was getting use to the car. Think I could've gotten into the low 1:30s. At AMP figure it's capable of a 1:27-28. Best in my S2000 there is 1:32 on street tires.

Jason O and I did a 1:32..I managed a 1:34 solo with about a 138mph coming into the bus stop ...so you doing that with a bunch less hp and tq is .

and I will bet it is a harness that has rubbed through causing a short. This very same thng has happened to SEVERAL others. I think I mentioned it to you at Charlotte, but did not have the actual details. I'd be FURIOUS if GM said give the car back you knowing it is going to be driven at all! The ONLY reason you did not wind up in the wall or worse, is your skill and experience. If these same events happened to a noob, and they crashed, and the powerloss/electronic gremlins were caught on PDR..GM would be in world of hurt..

Drive the hell out of it with PDR running all the time. Get a good collection of failures and then have your lawyer call theirs.

Saw the WSJ report on it yesterday. GM seems to finally be taking notice. Got a call from their executive customer support. Wonder if my car will result in the recall of other Camaros? Mine can't be the only one....

Might not be a recall, but could end up being a TSB.

Depends on the cause, but since safety related could definitely end up in a recall.

Good news! GM engineer found a wire tagging a heat shield somewhere behind the starter causing the electrical issues and loss ground codes. Evidently there's another car experiencing similar issues. Should be ready to pick up on Friday. Wish they'd sent out an engineer the first round and figured this out back in early August....
