600 to clear it you can buy a different hood for that price for just the small insert

Officially my SS was capable of running 13.0 in stock form,
I've managed a 12.61 bone stock, so take the "official" time as more of an average or easily capable time. With some seat time, it'll be well into the 11's.

Just read an article about the price announcement and in the article its also mentioned that the 2013 Snake will put out 650HP and 600Torque...did we just get bitchslapped twice? I think in about a year we will see the the chips land once both vehicles are out and being driven by Joe Public.

I have cut and pasted the article in this edit:

2013 Ford Shelby GT500 Bows: 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show

Just the Facts:
  • Ford claims the 2013 Shelby GT500's 650-horsepower supercharged 5.8-liter is "the most powerful production V8 engine in the world."
  • Top speed is more than 200 mph.
  • The 2013 Shelby GT500 goes on sale next year.

LOS ANGELES — The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500, which goes on sale next year, sports a supercharged 5.8-liter V8 and a new optional Performance package. Ford says the aluminum engine, which is rated at 650 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque, is "the most powerful production V8 engine in the world." The 2013 Shelby GT500 debuts this week at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Remarkably, the latest edition of the Shelby GT500 has a top speed in excess of 200 mph — thanks in part to its 3,850-pound weight — yet somehow manages to avoid the dreaded federal gas-guzzler tax.
Ford said it has reworked virtually every key component of the driveline, fitting a larger, more-efficient TVS supercharger, new cross-drilled engine block and cylinder heads, updated cam profiles, a new carbon-fiber driveshaft and upgraded clutch, transmission and axle.
To handle the additional torque while still delivering reasonable fuel economy, the six-speed manual transmission was regeared and beefed up.
The optional Performance package bundles SVT-designed Bilstein electronic adjustable dampers and a Torsen limited-slip differential. An optional Track package adds an external engine oil cooler, rear differential cooler and transmission cooler.
Among the additional features on the 2013 Shelby GT500 are a new launch control system, Brembo brakes, revised aerodynamics and new forged-aluminum wheels measuring 19 inches in front and 20 inches in the rear, all with Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar G: 2 tires.
Inside Line says: Most ponies ever.

What is the price though is the question...cuz I already see the weight difference...

Nice

So I cant find any where the actual HP of the automatic? I too think the price is fair, but for someone who does not take the car to the track and just wants that pure acceleration. maybe a better choice and a lot cheaper to modify My SS with a supercharger and some headers?

Yeah but isn't the Super Snake close to 6 figures once you buy the car and send it in for upgrades?

Yup... in every category except manliness.....lmao
More manly to drive a slower car?...but yet others chime in a magnetic ride control?
So your more of a man to drive a stick but need magnetic ride control to keep you on the track?

LOL!!....
