Slight block damage. Should I be worried?

Long story short, lifter failed, wiped out cam lobe, replaced lifter and cam, car ran good for roughly 3k miles. After 4 high speed back to back runs spun a bearing (guessing due to metal left in motor) I’m rebuilding the motor and noticed this. I’m not worried about this but I would like some opinions.

If it were some rare or high dollar block, could check with a machine shop and see if they could bore and bronze bush the lifter bores. If not..scrap metal pile.

The lifter bores have to be perfect.

One drawback of the LS design is not being priority main oiling. The mains/rods are oiled off the lifter oil galley. Tear up a lifter bore, and there goes your oil flow to the mains. Not to mention that lifter being noisy and just tearing up again. But that is why your bearings failed after a tore up lifter. Debris and lack of oil to the mains/rods. Even with priority main oiling like an LSx block you still need perfect lifter bores. You have one destroyed, and the one next to it is gouged up.

pretty sure LS lifters ride in their GUIDES! soo, clean up any rough areas to remove any lose metal and clean the block like a mofo...good luck OP and if I'm wrong I want somebody to explain why...

The top rides in the guide, bottom in the block. In the lifter bore they need about .0012" to .0014" give or take a few ten thousandths. That precision fit controls oil pressure to the mains. Loose lifters in tore up lifter bores will destroy the main and rod bearings in an LS motor.

It would be like putting a hole in your garden hose, and wondering why not much comes out the sprayer.

I use johnson shot lifters, oil goes thru the lifter, if u zoom in on that pic you will see a nice size hole in the center that isnt on the gm ls3/7 lifters. Maximum flow of oil to lubricate that sht out of your motor.

As long as the lifter moves smoothly in the bore send it!
