CARBON FIBER DRIVESHAFT

I've been trying for a year to get a 1-piece carbon fiber driveshaft but every possible source I've tried to get one from either doesn't respond, takes forever to respond with nothing useful, or doesn't really have anything even though they initially say they do.

I don't want one that weighs the same as the stock 2-piece driveshaft. The stock weight is 18 lbs. A CF shaft should weigh less than 10 lbs. I don't need a heavy pinion yoke on the back; I'm not running more than 450 rwhp.

I don't want a vendor telling me "yeah we have them" then when I try to order it they ask me what the dimensions are.

If there are ANY vendors on this forum who actually make one, have them in stock, and can tell me what their's actually weighs and it's under 10 lbs, PLEASE send me a PM!

Mods: please leave this here for a day so it will get some visibility before you move it. Thanks.

I'm waiting it out until I see good results on the track with these pieces cause they are alot of money. I haven't seen any company claiming they are bullet proof for the money we need to put up to get one

I don't understand the purpose of a CF driveshaft. If the reason is to lose 8 lbs there has to be cheaper options like put one less gallon of gas in the car, go on a diet for a few weeks, remove some fluid from the 10 gallon windshield wiper resivoir. If it's a strength issue I think you will be fine for 500HP with the standard drive shaft.

I for one am pushing 900+ to the wheels so I really need to look at the options out there but It seems there's only one comapny right now and they want and arm and leg for it

It isn't about losing 8 lbs, it is about losing 8 lbs of rotating mass. It is the same function as putting on a lighter set of wheels. The acceleration is faster, though it is not something most people would need or notice. It would be more for a race application where small increments of change in power, acceleration, weight, traction, etc. can mean the difference between win and lose.

From a strength standpoint, that is a different issue. Again, not something most people need, but when you get to the point where your tire traction and engine torque are exceeding the limits of the stock driveshaft, you'll wish you had one. It's not exactly about a HP amount, it is the combination of horsepower and traction that will make it twist. If you hook hard enough with 500HP, I think you could break a shaft.
