Dex-Cool vs Old School

What is the advantage of running the DexCool antifreeze vs the green stuff?

I have heard all kinds of horror stories on the DexCool turning to sludge, attacking gaskets, ruining
water pumps, etc. etc. The only bad thing I have heard on the green antifreese is, don't let your
animals drink it and don't mix it with the DexCool?

Happened on my 96 Bonneville, destroyed all the gaskets.
There was a class action to compensate failed engines, but they wouldn't
pay me cause I did it myself and didn't have ALL the receipts.

DexCool is organic and performs well for 5 years. But you have to change it every 5 years regardless of mileage because it breaks down and forms sludge. All the problems people have, i.e. blown head gaskets, are attributed to people who run it longer than 5 years.

It's useless. Dump it and run the green stuff and you'll be fine, and your engine gaskets will thank you. Unless you're a tree-hugger. But then you'd be driving a Prius...kinda of a catch 22.

Oh crap, this isn't going to become the "oil wars" of anti-freeze is it?

Now, all I see at the stores are either the 50/50 mix or the pure anti-freeze. Only way I can tell besides the front label is the price!

Point being, most if not all anti-freeze out there now is stating "For All Makes, All Cars", so who is one to believe?
