Interesting feedback and I was just going to start the same thread. My preference is for air, but will my Bostitch pancake compressor be strong enough? 2HP peak/1.6HP running and it operates at 135PSI Air Delivery: @ 40 PSI 3.4 CFM @90 psi 2.7 CFM. If that's not strong enough I would go electric or cordless. It looks like you can get a decent corded for ~$150 and a similar output cordless 18v for around the same. Which is the better tool for the job? 20v is too much $$ for me. What should I be looking for in the specs to make a brand decision?

I don't work on my vehicles often, but when I do, a working electric impact wrench would save me a hell of a lot of time!
Milwaukee.

The lithium battery impact guns are great, I use one daily. Many times they won't break a lug nut loose, so get a 30" breaker bar too (breaking the lugs by hand also saves the battery).

It's best to break the lugs by hand anyway so you feel when they get loose or bind up like they are cross threaded.

I have a corded Kobalt wrench that has no problem with lug nuts. I never tighten anything with it; always use a torque wrench. The impact wrench is for loosening stuff without hurting my old back.
