quality 410s

In the next month or so I will be swapping the factory rear end gears for some 410s. Any suggestions on certain brands? Would like to see what you guys think before I blow the cash. Thanks in advance.

Just ordered some pedders diff bushings and have installed the pfadt trailing arms/toe rods package, so hopefully ill have a little bit better rear by the time the strip opens up here.

I did the 4.11's and they're much stronger than the 4.10 in tooth design. Richmond is who i am using at 500rwhp500rwtq+/-. I dont drive this car easy either and its held up quite nicely.

Richmond is who I was thinking about. And I didn't even think of the 410/411 difference. Thanks for reminding me, I should know with how much forum lurking I do lol

I bought my richmonds from Apex chase did the PFADT black and orange diff bushings at the same time. I wish I wouldve done this as my first mod.. SHEESH I love it.

Just don't take Richmond gears to the track.

Well the end result is the track. Are they prone to breaking from your experience? I hear yes and no on the forums. What gear would you suggest for track and DD use?

If you want something around 4.10 - 4.11, the newer Richmond 4.11's are the only gears that have been installed and proven to be somewhat reliable. I say "somewhat" because I personally have not read or heard of anyone destroying them yet. However, like SUX2BU mentioned, Richmond specifically states that these are "street" gears, and you would probably have a hard time getting any warranty service if you admitted to any kind of "racing" use. Lingenfelter (LPE) sells some very high quality gears (made by AAM) that have had a very good track record on Camaro5, but they are only available in 3.73 and 3.91. Lastly, U.S. Gear has just released a "performance" gear set in 4.10, but as far as I know, no one has tried it yet, so I can't really tell you how good or bad it really is. Try it out....let us know!!!

Interesting, to make go faster gears and specifically say they aren't for racing lol. Time for more research then

Edit: where do you find u.s. gear 4.10s? .... Edit again: nevermind I found them, the webpage just doesn't work on my phone

I have 25,000 miles on my richmond 4.10s, along with two track .passes, albeit on street tires, but I did not upgrade the bushings (yet). They seem to be holding up just fine, however. The key seems to be finding a good installer. Fortunately, I've found one for mine. I'm interested to hear how the us gear set works though. Too bad the prices have come down yet.

I got in contact with us gears and was given a phone number for a vendor. I'll follow that lead and see what its all about. I'm trying to make sure that the gears are made for racing before I commit

so, old thread yes, however...

i went with the US gears 4.10s and am in the process of installing them, along with an LPW diff cover and Pedders Diff bushings.

sadly after getting through about half of the labor i havent taken a single picture. My buddy and I are too busy trying to figure out how all this rear diff sorcery works to take pictures i guess...

however, we should be done tomorrow afternoon and i will at least post some pics of the finished product, and an initial assessment. Track season starts in a few months up here too, so I will be able to report back on whether or not they break after some good hard launches.

I must say though, an IRS ring and pinion change may be easier than live axle, just for the simple fact you can do all the shiming and tedious work on a bench rather than under the car.

So who did you wind up buying them from and how much do they cost? I haven't been able to find them anywhere (not that I need them; my Richmonds are holding up fine). Just curious, in case mine ever do bite the dust.

I got them installed finally, and after about 25ish miles of driving no problems so far I will try my hardest to thouroughly break them in before I do anything fancy.

I ended up going through Drivetrain Specialists in Warren, MI. and talked to a man named Claude Plante at 586-778-0540. They were very helpful.

Initial report, they arent making any wierd noises, whether it's through slow turns, acceleration, or deceleration in neutral or under a load. In about a week I'll probably change out the diff fluid and will se for sure if there are any serious problems I am missing. Hopefully my budy and I did a good job, because differentials are some of the most ornery things ive ever dealt with on a car. We redid his ring and pinion about 2 months ago and he is still running along fine, so hopefully weve learned enough to get by. We shall see; understandably its a pretty big gamble on our parts lol

anywho here is a pic of the diff just before she went back under the car, complete with the nice LPW cover and the pedders bushings.
