I feel stupid

The other day, I apparently left the dome light on or something and drained the battery in my 2015 2LT. So, I figured I would put it in neutral and push it out of the garage so I could jump it from another vehicle. However, no matter what I did, it wouldn't come out of park (automatic trans). I tried turning the key to all possible positions and pressing the brake firmly. No luck.

So, is there a trick to this? Maybe an override button? I would hate for this to happen again and not be able to get close enough with another vehicle to jump it.

Thanks.

Jim

Dont feel stupid, everyone makes mistakes. Dunno about the trick getting it out of park as i have a manual. It may be a safety feature of some sorts. I know my 08 Mazda 3 does the same thing. But I'm sure everything will work out just fine!

In my other auto cars, you have to go into the console at the shifter and raise/push the lock pawl if there is no power to the car.

Don't know how to get it out of park but:

A. Is car nose first in garage? Since your battery is in the trunk could you pull up a car close to the rear of the Camaro and jump it? Cables should be long enough. You'd have to crawl through the back seat to pull the emergency trunk release if battery is too dead.

B. Get a portable battery booster/starter and use if for power to see if that will get it out of park. You can connect it under the hood on the jump posts to get the trunk open also and not have to crawl through to pull the release.

Also I believe the BCM will kill any lights left on so as not to drain the battery.

You are better off getting someone to drive to you. Pushing your car with no power could be risky. Maybe invest in a jump starter box and keep it charged in the trunk if you continue to have problems.

Wish I could help but I drive a manual. But hey don't beat your self up! Those jump boxes are handy to have all the time if you invest now when you need it; you never know you might need it again!

Don't feel bad, I got stranded in the driveway 2 days, because my key Ignition
chime got stuck on, when I tried to clean the cylinder it locked up!

There is all sorts of lock out features with no battery power.
I couldn't get my Ign key out when my battery was unhooked, turns out
there is a slot under the steering column for this.

Do what others said, either jump from rear, or just put a trickle charger on it.

In your owners manual it states this too. Without the key in you can't just push the lever forward?

Same here but I am looking at pictures of the Camaro shifter and I dont see one? maybe its located some where else? Weird most new cars you see the little piece you can pop out to unlock the shifter in case of loss of electrics.

Like the other said, portable battery charger is your best bet.

I had my jump started in my driveway and he used the terminal under the hood to do it. Try to jump it first where the car is. I used my free road side service with chevrolet and guy had a jump machine. It may not have been you. You could have bad battery. That happened to me.

not sure if your garage is attached to a house or has electricity in it but you could buy a car battery recharger that you plug into a 120 volt AC wall outlet. I used to have a car I didn't drive much that I kept in a garage. The battery would discharge if I didn't run the engine periodically so I just recharged overnight and and a fully-powered battery the next day. It won't be as quick as a jump start but you don't have to move your car.

That is why they make the Battery Tender.
The PriorityStart! is, though, the best long term and most little known about solution. At a minimum, I'd run one on any older or modified car.
