WANTED: How to Install Aftermarket Grilles Without the Stock Grille
Now that we've answered how to remove the stock grille, we need to discuss a wide range of aftermarket grilles. Many popular grilles have installation instructions that require their installers to use the OEM grille as a source of stability. This makes sense, especially since GM attached the grille so well that the entire front end must be removed for it to come off of the car.
Now that it is gone, how do we attach another grille?

The bumper cover support problem is what the manufacturers are working to overcome. The grille is the major support for the bumper cover, take that out and the cover will sag. All of the grille manufacturers replacement "cutout grilles" have been designed to go in place of a hard plastic grille as in a pickup and this grille structure problem has not been addressed before. I don't think it will be too long before the grille companies figure this out with add-on brackets and such. Till then we will just have to use the Bolt-over grilles.

Looks like gotpball44 was able to remove the OEM grille and install an aftermarket one.

Cool! Looks like in the pic above the "bolt over" grille was modified to include three brackets (verticle bars) to support the grille. Ingenious....I wonder if he had to weld them to the grille?
