V6 Break In?

My Car feels weak - My 05 maxima would throw me back in the seat, not even close in my camaro. Is something wrong? Am I missing something? My buddy said maybe I need to break it in? I'm at 275 Miles now.

Per the manual it's 500 miles.

Not sure about the "throw you back in your seat" feel. My car is getting there with my mods I've done (listed below).

I think around 1500 miles the motor seems to settle in.

Drive it in tap tap shift mode and let me know how that feels!

The V6 camaro just isn't that much faster than your 05 Nissan Maxima.

V6 Camaro 0-60 is 6 seconds flat

05 Nissan Maxima is 6.3.

Well, your Maxima makes less horsepower and torque, but weighed 300 pounds less and probably had a lot better gearing (shorter tires). Camaros are notoriously heavy, and are even more well known for not feeling as fast as they are. You also have the RS package with those nice, heavy, performance killing 'SS' style wheels which kill the 3.6L and all the torque that it doesn't have.

That being said, mine doesn't put me in the seat either, but it's quick. I figure about 14.1 as it sits.

As for the break in, I didn't follow the rules. Ran it hard out the lot. I never noticed any increase in performance as I added miles. Car ran strong from the get go.

If you got the auto thats part of the reason. The auto I test drove was a slug. If you havent had it above 4k rpm yet then you havent even discovered the cars powerband. Drive it progressively harder and let it break in. Change the oil at 1k to synthetic then drive it like you stole it, it will break in.

Maybe shift the knob to M/Sport mode.

I can't really say much about the power as I myself only have about 310miles on it right now. I am waiting on my Catch can to arrive before letting it lose. But I have seen a difference when I was shifting in M/Sport mode compared to keeping it in drive. And another reason I might be feeling the power from this car is because I am coming up from a 2003 2.4L V4 Dodge Stratus, this things sports almost twice the power compared to my Stratus.

Are you running 91 or 93? Fill up w/93 and post back here on your impressions, and the power band on these is between 4500 and 7000 RPM.

Should all V6's be running on 93? Maybe that is part of my issue as well.. mine runs strong, very responsive, but have not beein filling up with 93. 89 or 91

just filled up last week with a fresh full tank of 93, much smoother acceleration, and responsive. Going to put that in from time to time. I never put anything lower than 89 since i owned it.

I don't know if I've ever driven the car in "D"rive since the test drive. (Love the tap shift compared to bump shift in maxima) I only put another 150 miles on the car since I posted and already I'm feeling a difference. I haven't tried 93 Octane yet. That will be what I do next. Thanks for the responses guys.
