"The tech thinks its due to the spray they put on my tires to make them shine(he thinks some splattered on it). He tried to rub it off with his fingers."
The body shop my son uses told him to avoid getting any tire shine spray on a newly painted surface as it will cause discoloration. I never heard of it before, but based on what you're describing, I wonder if this is what happened????

The first 4 pics are from a distance after 4th repair. You can still see some imperfections with the paint. In picture 4 looks like some separation from the light.

The next 6 pics are closer up photos. Still can't seem to get that edge right and looks like some touch up paint on the end of one of the corners.

These three pics are of what they thought was paint splatter from the wheel. But it Didn't rub off. It's an obvious area of black discoloration.

The last 3 pics are of the passenger side which was fine before replacement of bumper cover, now there is a blemish on the tip.

Again the last few sets of photos were taken up close. From afar blemishes are not as apparent the point is there are still there. With each repair some things are corrected then something else appears. At this point, what am I to do? let it go because at a distance its not as apparent or yet another 5th correction? Would be nice to take it to my place of choice and send them the bill. Opinions...

I wish we didn't have to work through dealerships for warantee repair. I took my 2 month old car in for the 3rd attempt to get a leaky axle boot replaced. I even told them I was picky since I've had other cars returned with new damage so I'd be looking the car over carefully. Sure enough, they chipped the paint on my wheel and brake calipers. Pretty sure they scuffed the door sill too - easy to see since its a white car. Not as bad as your story, but it's another example of the decline in workmanship.

At the same time, I've started taking my out of warranty cars to an independent shop - one mechanic in particular who goes the extra mile, one example is he repainted my diff covers when I had the fluids changed. Thats not to say all dealerships are terrible, but you're definately NOT guaranteed better service.

WOW just WOW I would call GM customer service. This is total BS let me tell you if I can order a bumper pre-painted and shipped from Gary's customs and it came out perfect these retards can paint a bumper correctly.

You've taken it to this dealer 4 times now, and each time it comes back with a fresh set of problems. Taking it to them a 5th time is not going to change their ability level. All that will happen is a repeat of the last 4 times.

Contact GM and get them to send you to a new dealer or a repair shop of your choice, otherwise the madness will continue.

Wow, I've been having issues with paint repair at the dealership for a couple weeks now too... same deal as your original picture #4... I just hope today when I call them its fixed and I don't have to go any further... Brought it in to get chips in the right side gills fixed and the back right bumper had a minor scuff when someone backed into my in the parking lot at work and left withought leaving contact info... now i've been without my car for a total of about 10 days...

Hope your situation is going better. I'll be following your progress

@lbls1 thanks for the information again on GM customer service. At this point? Time to get them involved. I Really can't currently recommend this particular dealership and I'm hesitant to take it back for yet another repair/correction for a record 5th time.

BUT, if you look at the fenders, the "repaired" one has too much orange peel (the rough/wavy look). IMO, that needs to be addressed.

Personally, I would not accept the repairs as it is now. The bumper may be ok after the orange peel is sanded and buffed out.

No problem; I hope everything goes well. If the issues don't work out with this dealer, then your alternative could be to request to go to another dealer. Good luck.

I wouldn't be contacting GM except to let them know about the poor quality work coming out of this dealers body shop. This isn't warranty work and they are not the people you need to be dealing with.

I would contact the insurance company, and explain that you thought this shop was capable but after all the repair attempts you are not satisfied with the work and try to take it to a different body shop. If they give you any trouble contact your own insurance company and ask for some help. You didn't cause this accident, the other parties insurance is supposed to make your car as it was before the accident took place and it appears they are trying but this shop is obviously incompetent.

You want to avoid a legal dispute if possible but that would be a final option.
