it depends on how big the other passenger is. my wife is like 5'5. i believe i would be able to fit a baby car seat facing the other way with no problem, but if you put a giant in the passenger sit, most likely the baby seat wont fit or the passenger will be unconformable

I'll probably offend you

I've got a Britax Marathon in mine, daughter is almost 2 years old. With her mom in the passenger seat she has plenty of room, but that's because her mom is freakin short. Just make sure that you pay for a quality seat above all else.

If over 40lbs, booster seat. They need to stay in booster til 80lbs. Not cop is going to weigh your child, but proving they are havy enough can be a pita to a judge.

With our Graco snug ride behind the passenger seat, my wife was able to sit up front. Tight fit though because the base puts it more forward than just using the actual seat. My wife is 5'6". I would say someone up to 5'10" could fit easily if we wouldn't use the base.

The passenger seat is not really usable for anyone who wants to sit comfortably in the front seat. The backward facing seats take up a ton of room. We do it occasionally but its not ideal.

I think she is a little too big for a rear facing seat.

Thanks, everyone! I went with the Diono Radian RXT. It gets great reviews and Diono posts crash test videos online. It looks slim and has a low seat, so she can get in it easier herself. The Recaros looked really bulky in the shopping ads. Wish I'd have looked at the pic above before I purchased because it actually looks a lot like the Diono installed. I'll post pics when I get it installed this weekend.

They are all bulky, but try Wal Mart. They have some that are narrower, and fit better. I can easily put 2 in the back of mine.

They actually make car seats that are made for sub compact vehicles. Do a search on amazon, I actually got ours at babies r us. fits perfect will check the make and model at lunch and will post it up. My passenger seat still needs to be moved a bit though. My son love dada's vroom vroom!

I don't know about the rear child seat but I have a nice one in the front left.

I just read a review on diapers.com that the Diono Radian RXT fits just fine in a Prius in the rear position assuming you use the angle adjuster. It's worth looking into.
