The car has sat for about a month now . . .
So here in NJ, we had a whole string of 6 - 8 years where we got very little snow, although we get walloped on occasion. When I bought the Camaro I figured I'd be ok to drive it even during the winter at least when there was no snow on the ground.
I never expected it to sit for a month (I have a beater). But I don't know what to do - I'm worried about: 1. Tires flat spotting 2. I have that LS3 oil leak which needs to be taken care of the by the dealer but I don't know when I'll get the chance. 3. Battery dying? 4. Just not running the car in general - but at least it stays clean! |

Flat spots on tires were a problem when 8 track players were in cars...not now...If they do they will ride out in a matter of about a 1/4 mile. The battery may die so you want to start the engine, but it is Imperative that you get it up to operating temp....probably will need to run for about 20 - 30 minutes. If you have the luxury of moving down the driveway or around the garage...It would not hurt it...hope this helps....There are about 5,000 threads on this and you will find all sorts of variations of what I just described to you.

If your running your car in the garage, please remember to open the garage door, to many people don't. Every year smart people forget and they die because CO poisoning.

Ls3 oil leak?? Will someone inform me of this? I did notice wetness under the car when I was installing my mgw shifter. Is there a recall or service bulletin out on this!?

Yes there is. You can find in on this site under the camaro issues/problems. There is a sticky at the top for list of 2010 service bulletins.

Not sure where you are in NJ up NW we get enough every year it seems. You can take it out and start it and take it around the block too when the roads are decent too.

I uncovered mine today and let it run for about 20min and I moved it down the driveway and around the garage. I just might put a coat of wax on it tomorrow just for the hell of it..
Battery tender if your worried about the battery, they are not that expensive, just unplug it before you start it up if you do.. |
