New Onstar capabilities available for 10' owners yet?

I remember seeing where a member asked Onstar if they would allow 2010 owners to use the new Mobile App capabilities for our cars. And now there is the new Facebook feature. Someone emailed back from Onstar and responded to them saying they would, and it would be around spring or sooner this year.

Does anyone know what the final word is on this. I never renewed after my free subscription because it said these new options and features were only available for selected 2011 vehicles.

I hope they do, cause its pretty lame if they don't. Its not like it takes a actual vehicle upgraded part to make this work.

I'd renew my subscription if they offer me an upgrade.

Pretty sure there hasn't been any official word yet. Onstar usually posts announcements to its Facebook page.

Actually it does(supposedly). The features only work on the newer generation firmware, which is only on the 2011 vehicles, and a limited number of 2010's(not Camaro). What I don't know is if the hardware is so different that there wouldn't be an update available for the 2010 units.

Part, from what I heard, no. Everything should be there, it's only a signal. Updated firmware, of course. Either way I'd love to get it, and it's the only thing holding me back from being a customer, because of knowing its completely possible.

I drive in Memphis regularly, that's a good reason for Onstar. I just hope I don't have to use it.

It isn't a bad thing, I know a lot of people it has really helped out. Kinda pricey, but it could pay for its self in a bad situation. Controlling my car from my iPhone! I'm all about that, haha.

After doing some light reading (tearing through old Camaro5 posts), I found this.

I was just kidding with you guys. The directions suck. If you car is stolen, it will never be found anyways. Anywhere you do not have XM, you do not have onstar.
