That's about how long I got out of my battery. Bought another GM AGM replacement battery.

I have question.
How in the world does mileage affect battery life?
Isn't age the criteria?

Variables include how many starts followed by short trips, how many miles in extreme heat...although less of a problem when battery is not next to the engine.

The shortest battery life I ever had was in a minivan that had a really cramped engine bay and was often driven a couple of miles at a time. It was also the car we always parked at the beach. The battery quit after about 4 years. Meanwhile my Camaro battery seemed fine after 7.

Its just routine maintenance on mine. Next 80k is 160k, next 80k is 240k, next 80k is 320k etc etc.... Time flies I don't recall whether something happened 2yrs ago or 4yrs ago lol... I rather go by mileage on routine maintenance... yep, even the batt...

Did mine in my 13 last week. Paid $148 online at Advance and picked up 10 minutes later. $20 coupon online. 3 year warranty. My halos came on due to an unknown bug and killed mine dead in 2014. It was never the same. Stone dead this time. Couldn't revive it.

I think it's sorta both. Mileage is loosely connected, to some degree, to the number of drain and charge cycles the battery sees. Electrical drain and charge cycles are connected to the overall life.

Still going strong in the 2010.

I looked at it and she has zero corrosion on the terminals, and its not swollen so it hasn't sulphated.

I might put an Optima in this fall as it has been an extremely warm summer here.

Mine is only going on 6 years but if and when it does fail I will be putting the OEM battery back in. Don't see a better option than that one

I think your being the ass on this one for calling him on his opinion . Why would you replace a good battery. If it's slow cranking by all means . Freaking batteries are expensive and replacing one after 3 years as a maintenance item is foolish and a waste . Sorry. Granted I'm sure you think I'm an ass for calling you on this so no biggy .And I really don't care.

The individual had nothing to add but to attempt to insult others.

People see things their own way... none better or 'righter' than the other... it just is what it is and everyone will learn things their own way.

People talking out of their ass, knowing nothing about what is being said should be called out I think.

I bought my 2014 car in late 2015, if my memory is right. It had 20k on it. The OEM battery failed at about the 2 year old mark. I put a Duralast Platinum AGM battery in it. I think it is something like 850/1000 CCA. Big battery. The web chatter is that Duralast is made by Johnson Controls. JC makes batteries for dozens of labels as I understand it, including the Advanced Auto Parts, AutoZone, and many overseas labels, and the much revered Optima batteries.

The original battery in my TrailBlazer lasted 9 years, with a Battery Tender. My older Camaro was harder on batteries, but the replacement battery in it lasted 7 years with a Tender. The power cell(s) in the battery eventually wear out, where the battery no longer will hold a charge or have enough power to start.

That's a good stretch of time. Usually batteries won't last quite as long as that. With OEM batteries, the quality is spotty; You may get a good battery and/or you might get a crappy unit. Replacement batteries are the same way, in fact I believe that they don't last as long as OEM.
