Working in studios and recording music I'm going to give a GIANT STAY AWAY FROM BEATS AUDIO!!!!! They are EXTREMELY overpriced for what you get, and if you didn't already know, owned by Monster. The same company that charges you over $100 for a cable that costs less than $20 to make.
For in ear headphones you can't go wrong with Shure or Klipsch. Both are used day in and out by music professionals, either live or in the studio.

I'll sound like a broken record here, repeating what 66Olds442 said. I'm also an audio professional.
If you HAVE to have in ear style headphones go with Shure. Other than that I wouldn't bother. Beats Audio is nothing but a overly hyped product by Monster...just like all of their other products they are stupidly overpriced. I laugh every time I see Dr. Dre in those commercials...but hey, he's getting paid. We would all take the check from Dell and Monster. In ear "buds" can't reproduce the frequencies properly due to the limited size of the drivers. Performing musicians use something similar because they can also act as ear plugs that will cut down on the sound bleeding in from outside the ear canal. However, since they can't reproduce the low frequencies properly a lot of performers also use sub cabinets on or under the stage to get the bass. |

I'm no professional but the brand that I use hasn't been mentioned yet. I like just about any of the ear buds (and even the over-head style) by V-moda. They're nice as far as sound quality goes and they're not super expensive (anywhere from $50-$100 for buds).

Go with Shures. Beats are overpriced crap, along with Bose and SkullCandy

I'd say give sennheiser a try, my buddy produces music and it's all he uses.
