Well I'm assuming that it doesn't have synth in it since you only put 3k miles on it and it's at 8%.

I would advise you get a oil change now. Not because to oil is bad but because the of the contaminates left over in the engine build.

im doing my first oil change at 2k miles which i should be at in a week or a little more. and than im going to change it every 3k-3,500 miles after this first one. changing it to early is a waste of money and time. the first change should be done before 3k IMO because the dealers and manufacturers use crappy oil to save a few bucks. i decided to go with Royal purple i just bought 8 quarts of RP and a mobile 1 extended performance filter. it was $100.15 for everything. def get on that oil change man!

His oil cap has dexos on it.

Either oil will be fine. Royal Purple if the price doesn't bother you, otherwise Mobil 1, since it is easy to get and least expensive.

I prefer AMSOIL.

the oil cap says dexos which from my understanding isnt an oil brand but a requirement of the oil you use. royal purple, mobile 1, and castrol syn 5w-30 all say dexos approved which means they will work for our motors and have them run properly. i went with RP and it has the dexos approved info written on it.

haha i just finished explaining that! yeah i went with RP. and its the correct 5w-30 with the dexos approved on it so i should be good to go. and regular mobile one syn is not much cheaper maybe $1 at most so over all you would save only 10 bucks so the price difference doesn't matter to me at all. also mobile 1 extended performance is the exact same price as RP too.
