I need help.....I want a Camaro but...

well, It has been over a year since I started dreaming about owning a Camaro. But with wife and all now, the priorities have shifted a little...

we are now looking at SUV ( well she is, I still scream Bumblebee every time I see a YCWBS).

obviously I would only give up the camaro for a cayenne turbo or something like that but I do not have that kind of money....

The new Grand Cherokee 2011 is the nicest one I have seen with the Overland package. It will run about 43k with the v8.

Should I give up ( or maybe postpone) my Camaro dream for a GC2011???

Or should I say... Wife get a life and let me live mine...... V8 engine sound..burning tires and out on the highway (probably not going to happen....)

Unless you have kids... no reason for a Jeep.
If you need more ammunition for the debate, sell the Corvette in your sig-pic, thus warranting a replacement, and problem solved

We each have to deal with life as it comes to us. The fact is very few are fortunate enough to have the resources to be able to afford a purely sports car. The Camaro, beautiful as it is; is NOT a practical car. I keep a Kia for that, & my wife has her own car.

Deal with your priorities. Your family HAS to come first. The day will come when you are able to afford such a car, & at that time it will be all the sweeter.

I know it's not what you want to hear, but it is the facts of life.

you sound like you have no idea what you really want. figure that out first.

personally, I tell the wife, it's my money, and I'm getting a Camaro. no argument to be had.

Well maybe a compromise? Don't go nuts on the Jeep like the bigger engine, why do you need that? I am sure a V6 is more than enough even for current or future kids?

Then if you save a bit there get a base LS? The V6 takes regular and fires up 312 HP, you can get the Bumblebee decals and all other options installed later and bit by bit.

Then again... you may have the need for an SS V8 so you can make the speed limit in 2 seconds instead of 3 or maybe just have the fastest Camaro available... well until the Z28 comes out...

If you are planning on having kids, a 2 door is NOT for you. Cherokee's are nice, but that is not what you really want it seems. Go for what makes you happy. Once the new car smell wears off the Cherokee, I bet you wont be smiling like you will in a Camaro.

If a camaro would fit your budget now and lets say that kids are in your future why not get a camaro now? The kids will be small for a few years, at least enough to put some major miles on the camaro. When the kids are older and into sports and such you can get the family van or what ever. Just a thought.

But keep the camaro for mods.....

No kids = no brainer... get the Camaro. Kids in the future, minor brainer... get the Camaro, sell it if/when your family outgrows it, or keep it and buy another car after it's paid off. I fail to understand why every family feels they need an SUV to survive. I see plenty of families tooling around in 5 year old Civics and the Camaro beats that in interior volume and storage capacity. The 2 doors will be a PITA every now and then but IT'S WORTH IT! And I'm pretty sure this isn't going to be the only car in the house, so do like plan on doing: Honey, find a nice sedan or crossover... I'm getting 2 doors and 426 horses.

If it's any help what so ever, I was in the same boat. My wife is now 6 months pregnant, so we bought my Camaro 2SS and then a month later bought a VW Jetta Limited Edition for my wife so we gave a sensible car for toting round the baby.

However, if you are set on a Jeep, then how about looking at a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8? Best of both worlds, useful SUV and a 0-60 time of 4.9 secs. Not too shabby.

I traded in an 06 Jeep Commander Limited with the Hemi on my Camaro, and they are nice, fun, luxurious vehicles.

I have a 3 year old and one on the way. I needed a new car and this was a big argument on many nights before I decided to get the Camaro. My thinking behind it was simple. I drive a lot of miles to and from work, my wife drives next to nothing. The Camaro is mine and I want a toy to make me happy and my drive a little more enjoyable. I told her that when she got a job that required a commute she can get stuck in something that she hates. Until then if the family needs to go anywhere that's why I bought you a Xterra with a DVD player in it, and I'm buying the Camaro. She does not regret my decision and is now glad that my son and I are happy having the Camaro.
