I don't mind the intersection cameras, but the front looks so much cleaner and more menacing without the plate. Let us stick it in the windshield so the camera takes a picture with the plate right next to our face. I don't run red lights ever so it doesn't phase me, but I'd rather stick it in the windshield so the front stays clean.

Well it's perfectly legal to put the tag in the windshield, so no worries.

I always evade those cameras, My trick is I use some type of oily/Glossy spray on my plates and when the camera shoots a flash to take a picture, the plate is so glossy on film you see nothing but a glare, cops can't say shit cause its looks like a regular plate, just brand new, paid $20 for the can out of a car & driver mag, got flashed over 20 times over the period and no tickets

Or...and here's a wild thought.....
Don't run red lights? If you don't do anything wrong then they can't do anything to you. Why all the effort to "beat" them?

Can you prove this for CA law? Last I checked with the local police, windshield front license plates (visible of course) were illegal and they loved giving ricers tickets for not having the plate mounted on the front bumper.

NO. As far as I'm concerned, civilian companies SHOULD NOT have the right to change ANY timing of ANY light. Timing of lights should be mandated by city/local govt's and should be "set" in stone. If the timing of the light were to change, it would be the CITY to change it and not a civilian company. The civilian company would need to work AROUND the timing set up by the city.

My problem is that it is a corporation enforcing the law. When they feel that they are not making enough money, they change the rules to increase cash-flow with a complete disregard for public safety.

Again, it is my understanding that these citations are CIVIL....meaning that the court can't set out a warrant for you to show up. They can send it to a bill collector and mess with your credit (which is outrageous). But, it's civil. No one should be changing rules except for the city. You can I, it sounds like, agree on this one.

ATSOL changed the duration of one yellow light in a 45 mph zone to 1.4 seconds because it was not generating enough revenue. The city had to dismiss hundreds of tickets and quietly tried to sweep the matter under the carpet.

1.4 freaking seconds!

The recommended time for yellow is 1 second per 10 mph.

You are okay with that sort of civillian corporate control?

Again....NO. That wasn't my point. All things equal.....if the yellow is calculated properly and NO ONE can change the lights timing, then there are no worries. It' a regular old normal red light. You just don't run it. Obviously, people found out about it, the tickets were dismissed, and I"m sure there had to have been some ramifications on the company for doing this.
Front plate? I don't like it but I have one now. My Firebird was purchased with no front plate. I got pulled over. It's a $200 ticket. I got mine dismissed by taking off the back plate, sticking it on the front bumper with rolled up masking tape, photographing it, putting it back on the back and taking the picture to court. I had to pay an $11 dismissal fee. Much better than $200.
That would have been hilarious if the Judge said, "Let's run outside to your car just to make sure it's fixed."
You can bet that I got a new pair of plates when it was time to renew.

No. I don't live in LA. My dad does. I visit there.
Next in the state of California when the cameras when up accidents caused by running red lights when down by 60% BUT rear end collisions went up by 140%. Now I dont think thats a fair trade. Do you?
I think it's sad that the people following don't know how to pay attention. The people in front ARE paying attention. There's no quick remedy for those who can't pay attention when following another vehicle. Try highways....people ride other peoples bumpers at 60 mph thinking this is okay. All it takes is that one person having a blow out....one person cutting off another ahead of you....traffic backed up on the other side of a hill that you can't see....a matress falls out of the bed of a pickup in front of you....any one of these things can happen and all it takes is the person following too closely not paying attention for one second and you have a 5 car pile up. The same goes for intersections. The guy in front tries to stop for the red light. The guy behind is at fault for failing to control their speed and they usually aren't paying attention. Tell me this......... If everyone gave themselves a safe following distance between them and the car in front of them, would the amount of traffic accidents have gone up that much? NOPE. Again, it all comes back to obeying traffic laws. You know you can also get a ticket for following too closely. Just pointing out that giving yourself a distance between the car in front of you and you is always a good idea.

BTW: You being a cop you should know this. L.A. has one of the most, if not the most corrupt police departments in the Country And Glendale isnt very far behind. I have reasons: I was on Glenoaks avenue driving and went through a yellow light and a officer pulled me over and told me I ran a red. I go to court expected to pay a $500 and refused to. The officer insisted on telling me it was a red. I fought back. The jusge called the balif to escort me out of the courtroom and while a 300lb samoian dude was carring me out of the room I called the cop a liar son of a female dog and a thief. I didnt pay the fine and recieved a sepina for court the next week. I went told my case and the cop admited he "might have been mistaked". It was the end of June and he need to give out all his tickets. So he gave out 4 bullshit ones including mine. So all of the ones he gave out were dismissed.

Some depts may require quotas. Ours does not. I won't ever stop a car that I think ran a red light. I will only stop those I KNOW ran a red light. I'm sure there are thousands of people all over the country who have dealt with false accusations.
One day on Glendale Ave. Right passed Monteray he was driving and the guy infront of him ALSO HAD BLUE LIGHTS. The cop sitting in a parking lot on his bike let the white guy infront of him go but pulled over my cousin and me. WHY because the amount of rasicm on Glendale against the Armenian population is ridiculously high. We are the MAJORITY we are the ones that made Glendale this thriving city that it is. 74% of all small busnesses in Glendale are Armenian owned. Our City council is made up of 4 out of 7 Armenians. Yet the white people cant stand to see any oen do better than them.
Blue lights are illegal PERIOD. Don't complain that someone else wasn't stopped, but you were. I have had SOOOOOO many people on traffic stops say, "Well, you didn't stop the guy in front of me for speeding too!" Or, they will say, "what about him?!?! He's breaking the law! Why don't you get him!!" My answer does not change. I can only stop one at a time. "and right now, I'm dealing with you."
So Tag until you been to a city and lived among its corruption all you life you cant begin to understand anything about it.
Now my rant is over.

And I mean none of this offensively. Well unless your a Glendale cop then pretty much screw you.

The purpose of a front plate is so we can run your vehicle on our MDT's when you are coming at us in the opposite direction. This way, if we have a bank robbery, a burglary, etc...criminal activity, we can read either plate...front or back....to determine if that vehicle would be a suspect vehicle or not. Front plates ARE important for us to recognize.

I remember that case where the plate was in the windshield and the guy got the ticket. Supposedly you can put that plate in the front window. Remember, if the officer can't see it, you could very well get a ticket.

That glossy spray you speak of, I'm pretty darn sure, is illegal. If an officer sees it, you can expect a hefty fine. 20 times, huh? That's something to brag about. Sure...you're insurance company sees you on here bragging like that and BAM!!! There goes that awesome insurance on the SRT8 since "our client likes to run red lights."

OK I think we need to relax. This was never meant to escalate into a full blown battle. WOW I just thought us in Cali didnt want front plates and a petition does help. Its worked before for Glendale. So I have faith.

Hey....I'm with ya on the front plates. I don't like them either. Ask around, others know that too. I was more concerned about the whole "obey traffic laws" bit. But having a front plate DOES increase the chance dramatically of getting your stolen vehicle back.

And I'm not trying to battle at all. I blew it up and put it in red so my responses were easier to read. No disrespect to you....or anyone else in this thread for that matter.

Thanks....but I start to get so tired of people cop bashing and 'stereotyping' all of us due to the actions of one or two (not that you are doing that here).

NO its just that like literally 18 cops here that are honest guys, and two gals, one of them BTW is a fine piece of ass. And if you ever in Glendale look for her, and get this her car number is 69. Now thats freaking sweet. But Im serious.
