I have the noise now even with the warm weather. And they say there is no problem. GM can go suck a C0CK! Last GM for me.

Just traded up from my 2011 2ss and starting to regret it after reading all this about the rear. mine has been doing the same so I call the dealer and they don't have any loaners so I will have to wait. Not good GM

Taking mine to a very reputable shop close to home. I want to get a sample of fluid, I'm not hearing any groan but I feel a slip in the rear on light acceleration after start up. Temperatures have been in the mid 70's at night and lower 90's during the day. Nearly 1k miles since 3rd fluid change. See what happens, I'm not holding my breath.

Interested to see what long term effects are cause from what I can tell most say its just a noise which is annoying but as long as I can drive it I guess I'm fine. Ill probably keep it until the warranty is up and trade up again.

From previous posts, showing metallic sediment in the oil after 5k-15ķ miles, I'm not sure the rear ends will last without a major cost to owner's at the 37k mile mark. That's usually how it works out. And you're right, it might be a trade before we'd like it to be. I hope GM gets their sh#t together and addresses the issue. I highly doubt that since they tried getting out of the ignition failure, which caused deaths or accidents at the very least, but the Supreme Court told them to pound salt! GM is still liable.

So an update on my diff groan- I had changed the diff fluid back in October, and the groan went away completely after about 2-3 weeks. The Camaro was my DD throughout the winter in NY. I let the car sit for almost a week in early April since I bought a new truck. The groan came back. Not nearly as bad as it was prior to the fluid change. I plan on changing the fluid again prior to autocross this weekend.

The local dealership agreed to do a second flush. The service manager said the next thing is the carrier change.

I called to check on the status of the rear end differential flush and the local service departmental informed me they pinched one of the rocker panels with their lift. I'm disappointed, but at least they came clean and promised to repair it. They game me a car to drive while they replace the rocker panel.

That sucks! It's ridiculous how many people have had their cars damaged by the dealerships lifting incorrectly, you would think by now they would get it right.

Yes, you would think they would train people on this. I'm thinking of getting the ZL1addon brackets that mount to the pinch welds. Give them a target to shoot for.

I explained the intermittent groan when turning and the noise(howling) at higher speeds.

...It's my High Performance Tires... pft!

I guess I will go and do a fluid change myself.

They did the flush and gave me this - service bulletin 09-04-20-001E.

It would be interesting to find out what service bulletin 09-04-20-001D was about.

Not sure what to think about this.

New to the forum, just had to join to explain my situation after reading this thread. I have a 2016 2SS. On 9/14/2018 my differential began leaking. The following day I brought it to the dealership and they're replacing the whole differential, luckily under warranty still.

Previous to this I experienced my rear acting as a full-time locker as some people have described. The car has 30,XXX miles on it. So, be careful and make sure the dealership does the fluid change. I couldn't find any current service bulletins but I know the fluid on my car was never replaced. Potentially something to be said about the longevity of the rear end if you don't replace fluids.
