I'm getting the TC issue, should I even bother taking it in?

My 17' SS A8 is doing the 1k-1.5k RPM shudder, which points to the TC replacement issue. There seems to be plenty of threads out there saying the 3 flush or the TC replacement solved their problems, but I'm also seeing some that it caused even more issues to pop up.

My question is what kind of damage, if any, could I cause if I just decided to save myself the dealer headache and live with the shudder? The car is still under warranty so I wouldn't have to pay, but at the same time it seems like a ton of hassle and time away from my car for a "eh, it might fix it".

I dropped mine off yesterday so they can do the flush. The problem is you won't be able to live with it. It will get worse. It sucks for sure.

I would take it in. It's under warranty. Took mine in for the shudder and they did a flush about 3 months ago and its been smooth as butter ever since.

Even if the flush doesn't fix it, they'll replace the TC so it will get fixed one way or the other at no cost to you. Better to go a few days without your car than to live with a shudder that will get worse and worse over time.

Get a 6-pack of TC's and problem solved.

Hate this issue, and they're building more everyday.

2019 gets the A10. Doesn't help current customers, though.

Take it in? Yes. It's only going to get worse. The friction material on the lock up has worn, burnt, and contaminated the tranny in every circuit and solenoid.

Same as riding the clutch with a manual, but with fluid that gets contaminated.

Guess I'm waiting until the 2019 model to upgrade from my 2010.

I lived through the Gen 5 AFM rebuild; no way I want to have a similarly serious issue with the transmission on the Gen 6.

Are you listening, GM? When you have a major issue like this, you should be more transparent about the root cause and a timetable for the fix. No way are the 3 flushes anything more than a bandaid for the real problem.

It's definitely a pain in the ass, but definitely have it flushed. Rear end flushed 6-9 times, tranny flushed 3 times. Knock on wood, 8k miles on it, and so far it's ok.
