waiting on a microchip

Anyone else have a car waiting on a microchip? My car has was built on 2/18/21 and has been sitting waiting on a chip since then. Chevrolet doesn't want to give a projected timeframe for completion so it can be shipped. Are any of you going through the same or already went through the wait for microchip install? How long did it take?

Sucks. Especially when you ordered one, already allocated so it's a sale for Chevy, but they'd rather spare a semi conductor for something like a run of the mill Equinox.

So it’s been sitting in a parking lot for almost 5 months. Can’t believe what a train wreck this micro processor has caused. Pretty shitty of GM to not complete sold orders of a high end car.

I’m in the same boat, built 22 Feb and has been sitting in a parking lot since then. It’s a convertible so I told my dealer I’m very concerned with the weather it had to endure in 3 seasons without being protected. He was great and said they will sell it on the lot if I want to order a 22 instead. I am going to take him up on the offer.

I'd cancel. I wouldn't want a car that's been sitting out in the weather with no wax or ceramic coating for many months. While some fading may not be obvious when the car is sitting alone, it is very obvious when parked next to the same color that's been garaged its whole life. Hopefully you're not having to pay full price.

You are probably closer on getting your 21 then a 22 and starting the process all over again. The chip shortage hasn't improved much and I can see the 22's being delayed as our cars aren't top priority. I ordered mine the first of June and they said 12 weeks from the start of production which I believe is Mid August if they keep that date. Hope I'm wrong but something to think about.

Car manufacturers should take a que from Sony. They are redesigning the PS5 so it will be compatible with the chips they are now making for themselves. They got tired of waiting, hired some chip makers (in house) and are spending the cash to reconfigure the game console to fit the chips just right.
The next shortage, from what I hear, will be rubber. If you need a tire now..better get it soon.

That's the second time in 24 hours I heard about a rubber/tire issue approaching.

Winter in the Southern hemisphere is when most bulk natural rubber is harvested and supply is the greatest. ... and global prices are lowest.

Looking at this chart, the annual glut hasn't happened and driven the price down this year, so yes, it makes sense that tire rubber will increase in price over the next 12 months.

I just don't get it ?
The dealer knows he will NOT see the car on his lot and
he has you ordering a 2022.
You can walk away with your deposit and go somewhere else,,,thats what I would do instead of a salesman taking advantage of you....JT
