Replacement of Oil Pressure Sensor

Had to have my Oil Pressure Sensor replaced last week at 53,000 miles. Notice my Low Oil Pressure light on so I pull off the road and stopped then the pressure went to 70. Closest dealer was only 4-6 Miles away so decided to take it there the whole time driving there the pressure would range from 30-70. Solution was to replace the oil pressure sensor.

Has anyone else had this issue?

It will cost you around $270 to have the dealer replace it..

Also this is not covered in your warranty if you have exceeded 36,000 miles.

I only have 677 miles so far and noticed yesterday that my oil pressure gauge reads one needle width below the high pressure limit even after warmed up, ( near 70.) But no idiot light. I am going in next week to talk to the dealer about it.

Just got and had to have this done today. Have a 2010 2SS L99 with 64k.

It was also $270 for me. My pressure needle on the gauge was almost at 0. Gave me low oil pressure warnings all the time that flashed on the screen for 0.5s each time.

No engine oil leaks and at right fill line. Oil temperature readings are good and it has the "used" color I expected.

No abnormal engine sound when doing careful test drive in my lot to see if it was actually the sensor. Don't know what a running car with no engine oil sounds like and I'm thankful I didn't/don't.

Getting my car back tomorrow.

EDIT:
They got it back to me the same day. Yep oil pressure sensor went bad.

The sensor worked but would show readings similar to what happens when you tilt the leveling ruler with the air bubble indicator inside. As in the movement, incline, and agitation of the car would severely affect what results it gave me. All of which would seem to incidcate an oil pump or release valve issue.

But I guess not. I got it back from the shop and drove it for about 30minutes and did all the sorts of turns, driving up slopes, and other such things that would cause me to get no/low oil pressure in the past.
