Jannetty Transmission Dipstick Dry?
I had the dipstick installed (finally), and it reads bone dry when the motor is warmed up.
I understand the dipstick is designed for a quart over factory amount. I've had absolutely no problems with the 6L80e since adding the Circle D about 20 months ago. I just don't want to overfill the transmission. It has never got above 185* since adding the TC and cooler. Is it normal for the dipstick to be dry after installation?

Mine was and I added fluid until it was at the full mark BUT, trans temps should between 85° and 125° when checking the dip stick — that is how I’ve checked mine. GPI recently rebuilt my trans - I checked again and it’s still in the full range...

Well I added some fluid and it's leaking from where it connects to the transmission.
It's only leaking though when trying to add fluid, so I guess it could have been worse, only I wont be able to go to test & tune tomorrow.

Are you checking it at the right temp? That is critical not fully warmed up! I always shoot for a middle temp about 105.

I wonder if the tube grommet is cut or the tube with the grommet is not down all the way. I can’t see why it would leak otherwise.
I’d double check... -Don

Wont be able to get it back on a lift until Monday, guess I'll find out then.

Well somehow the dipstick managed to pop out. I'm assuming the 15 mm bolt wasn't tightened enough to secure it, on the bright side, there is no damage to the grommet, and now it's in secured properly.
Got a reading from it, shows about 1.5 quarts low, which is right on what Jannetty states it should show after installation. If you are putting long tube headers on, I'd recommend doing this dipstick at the same time. Much easier to do without them in the way.
