Now is a good time. The OEM fluid is crap. I replaced with Royal Purple Synchromax and it's so much smoother.

It don’t come easy.

Just changed mine out as well, with D4 at a tad over 40k. Think the book states 45k.

I changed my 6 spd manual @ 8500 miles with red line full synthetic autotmatic trans fluid. Also changed rear diff with amsoil severe gear at the same time.

You mean 6 speed transmission or ... 6 speed transmission?
In the manual, I change the oil at the same interval as in the differential. 18000 miles. |

What does the owners' manual say? If you race it, cut that in half.

I've had three 5th gens. All 3 got the OE tremec fluid dumped within a day or two of purchase. To me, Royal Purple Synchromax shifts much better.
My standard M6 car purchase procedure is - drive car home, up on stands to delete skip shift and change gear lube. About 500 miles later, dump the engine oil. |
