Now is a good time. The OEM fluid is crap. I replaced with Royal Purple Synchromax and it's so much smoother.

Just changed mine out as well, with D4 at a tad over 40k. Think the book states 45k.

I changed my 6 spd manual @ 8500 miles with red line full synthetic autotmatic trans fluid. Also changed rear diff with amsoil severe gear at the same time.

You mean 6 speed transmission or ... 6 speed transmission?

In the manual, I change the oil at the same interval as in the differential. 18000 miles.

What does the owners' manual say? If you race it, cut that in half.

Because you don't have to change it.

I've had three 5th gens. All 3 got the OE tremec fluid dumped within a day or two of purchase. To me, Royal Purple Synchromax shifts much better.

My standard M6 car purchase procedure is - drive car home, up on stands to delete skip shift and change gear lube. About 500 miles later, dump the engine oil.
