Voided Warranty for CAI?

Has anyone actually had their warranty voided for installing a CAI?

I'm thinking about getting the Z/28 CAI which Chevy describes as a direct replacement for the factory SS airbox, then goes on to warn of voiding the warranty. It says it's not intended for use on an L99 but I have an LS3.

Seems to me that a performance part you can order from the dealer, and I assume have the dealer install if you wish, should not void the warranty.

I realize that it's a CYA move by GM, but has anyone actually been voided for installing an aftermarket CAI or the Z/28 CAI?

Given the information provided, Absolutely not. The only person that can confirm for you 100% is your dealership service adviser.

Hey thanks for your input...

I have searched for my answer and gone through a hundred threads on the subject, and have not seen anyone state that their warranty was voided.

The best answer I could find was that "it could".

Will you get some bonehead dealers that will claim all sorts of things, yes.
Will it void your warranty with GM? No, not unless they can prove the part in question caused a specific failure.

As always don't believe everything you read on the Internet or even a car forum, Read here:

They cannot void your warranty for a CAI. Theres been so many of these threads I don't understand how new ones continue to repeatedly pop up.

Yes and No.

If you do one and get the car worked on etc etc and a sensor goes bad they'll fix the issue.
Now if the motor gives out for a bad lifter fails or something else happens then they will use the CAI against you. A good intake needs a tune due to the A/F change by running one. Hey my car has a big cam heads FBOs etc etc and still has warranty due to the dealer doing the work and the tune

It's simple why does it matter? Buy the cold air intake, install, keep your stock air box, and if you ever need warranty work just swap the stock one back in...it takes like 15 minutes lol

They would need to provide proof of how a CAI caused the failure. They just can't void the warranty just because it has a CAI on it.
