The story really isn't about the Mustang. It's about the Flat Rock assembly plant not being at capacity. Mustang sales have been down but steady through the recession. The bigger story is Mazda taking their production needs out of the factory.

Mustang isn't in jepordy but it being the only vehicle built at Flat Rock is. Ford will probably have to determine if they can add another vehicle to Flat Rock or move Mustang production into another plant based on cost effectiveness.

Looks like its time to make the Boss 302 a little less limited. I'm glad we're outselling them but I hope they find a way to figure things out, which I'm sure they will. A better Mustang=a better Camaro. The competition always brings out the best in the automakers. Look how much the Mustang has improved since the Camaro's release. A new body style with IRS should do the trick.

THIS.

What's interesting to me, according to this article, Mazda owns half of the Flat Rock factory. So will Mazda add another vehicle to replace the 6? Will Ford buy Mazda's share of the factory to add one or more vehicles to it?

I actually really like it. In fact, I almost bought one. I decided on the Camaro just because I loved my Tahoe. GM really impressed me with that SUV, it never had a single problem in the time that I had it. Ford not having inventory at the time that I was car shopping also did not help their cause. But yeah, its a very nice car. If I could, I would go buy a mustang so it can hang out in my driveway with my Camaro!

@RS1017

Everyone on this site Knows the Mustang is a beautiful and fast car. Some just don't have the stones to admit it.

As odd as it may seem, the declining Mustang sales may actually have more of an impact than Mazda dropping out. Lately the Mazda6 has been having a hard time cracking 40k units sold, while the Mustang is down about 60k units from 2005. The Camaro (and Challenger) can't take all the credit for that decline but never the less, the drop in Mustang sales is greater than the total Mazda6 production from recent years. Mazda could be the final nail in the coffin, but if the Mustang had better maintained its sales (or if the reskin & new engines had actually boosted sales) then they'd still have enough demand to allow Mazda to drop out without much consequence.

The previous version looked much better than what they did with their re-fresh in 2010

From the front, the Mustang looks pretty good. Any other angle though...

I think the previous F-body suffered as more from poor styling than anything else. It is the only generation that I never owned or wanted to own.

This body style is a million times better, and I like it...

Like most say, the front end looks good, but the rest of the car doesn't have much going for it. I can stand back and look at my car, and our 5th Gens have so many good body lines all through out! The Mustang cannot touch that...

United we stand. Period. We need Ford and their workers working.
Keep the new Muscle Car War alive. Don't want to open a can of worms, but I find it ironic that Ford friends of mine gave me schit saying they didn't need a bailout.
