2015 Mustang GT in person first impressions.
So I was just up at the convention center getting set up for an auto show and Ford had one of the new 2015 Mustangs out. The first thing I noticed was that is was bigger than I was expecting. Kind of the same feeling I had the first time I saw the Nissan GTR in person. I didn't look to see what size the wheels and tires were but they seemed disproportionally small due to the size of the body. From the front it doesn't look too bad. It feels higher up the price scale than the previous Mustangs. But....
....then you walk around to the back of the car and it goes down hill quickly. Literally. The angle on the tail light panel looks terrible. There are a million other ways they could have done that that would have flowed much better than that. The show wasn't open today but there was a group of 1500 high school kids there on some sort of field trip. I guess they were in some sort of automotive program. Anyways, they were all over the place and both times I stopped to look at that Mustang there were kids looking at the 2014 Mustangs and GT500 but not the 2015. They would glance and maybe slow a little bit but then they went straight to the outgoing model. You can see in the pictures, no one was around the car but me. Just an interesting observation. |

Yeah. I'm not at all impressed with it.
Hope the show goes well for you guys. We probably won't make it up there this time.

My color combo Shelby in the background.
Not liking the new Mustang, might have to jump ship when the time comes for a new car. Right now thinking maybe GT-R. |

The looks aren't bad, just not may favorite. I'm interested in the weight and power/torque numbers than the looks.

I agree 100%. I actually hate it more then pictures now that i have seen in in person at the Toronto auto show. Its like Ford put out a suggestion box for the new mustang and did everything people suggested. The 2013-14 mustang is awesome i like it a lot. Shame they are stopping that generation after getting it right.

It had quite the crowd around it at the chicago auto show. I thought it looked much better in person, but oh well can't please everyone.

The 2015 mustang will appeal to all the euro and asian car lovers. The 2013 mustang is one of the best looking cars ever just not muscle.

I thought it actually looked fantastic in person. Though I will agree it looked bigger or should I say longer to me in person. I'm not sure if any of the dimensions actually changed or it was my perception due to the new styling. I felt like the rear quarters kinda looked Camaroish to me. I can't blame Ford if they stole that from the Camaro. That is one of the strong points on our cars that I love about it. It seems like it has more of a euro look to it now.

I don't care how ugly it is I'll buy one for the performance. Or maybe I'll buy a 2014 or wait for the Cuda if Fiat ever builds it.

God the back of that thing is horrible. The outgoing model is soooooo much nicer in the looks dept. Still looking forward to seeing how it performs, but I wouldn't get one (mostly because even if it does perform, I don't currently race at all so the looks kill it for me).
