LS3 question

I like my L99, but I was looking at a 2013 Corvette convertible to keep my Camaro company, and it has the LS3 with an auto. I have seen a few oil pump issue threads on here, so I'm wondering is the Corvette going to be more problematic than my Camaro which has been bulletproof?

Thanks.

No motor is bullet proof. Vettes have their own set of issues.

Agree with Unreal, no motor is flawless, but the C6 Vette with an LS3 is great combination. When I had my C6Z, I saw many guys building their LS3's to nearly the same output of our LS7's will little issue. I'm very familiar with the typical LS7 "issues" for the C5 and C6 series, but have only been dealing with the LS3 since buying my Camaro last year. Seems like a stout motor that doesn't mind being warmed over at all. I'd say go for it!

With a auto I would think I would be more worried about the AFM lifters for DOD than the pump which are higher volume on the l99....the problems with oil pumps was mainly early on Camaros, and some have had trouble getting the tube on right even changing them out with the o ring and placement above the pan. Also the oil cooler leak problems, the chain dampener problem, the what ever can be a possibility though really more of a rarity to just raises its ugly head on here the Internet home of the 1st post guys saying :

Hey guys just rolled my Camaro while blowing up the engine after terrible grinding sound driving through parking lot......what gives?

The corvette doesn't have an L99 even in the automatics

Thanks. I realize everything has issues, but the L99 seems to be more stout than the LS3 in the threads I have read. And yes, again, that's still a small data pool.

Does the LS3 auto Corvette have AFM? I use a Range Device to get rid of that nonsense in the Camaro.

Everybody brings up the l99s lifters.....yet I cant remember the last time I read a thread about it.....a few ls3 oil pump comments. Overall very little about the l99. I'm sure there are some issues but really? Everytime reliability issues come up it gets mentioned. I think the l99 owners should be polled on here as to what issues the have had. I beat my car hard when the times right and it hasn't missed a beat.

So Ron, an auto LS3 should be nothing to worry about? I'm guessing not, but I was curious enough to ask.

Thanks.

Your going to get so many opinions.....you should do what I do when I'm curious about a car. I ask the people that actually own it what they think....they are the ones that will give you the goods. Really.....do we ever hear about many problems regarding the vette ? I'm thinking your good to go . Make it happen.

No l99 with ls3 conversion is not the same. Ls3 Corvette's do not have dod or AFM.

Once you do conversion what's left to being different other than the heads/cr?
