I've always wanted an Avalanche. I think they're sexy as hell sad to see them go.

Don't hate. Still have my 2002. Best vehicle i ever owned. The hard tops, mid gate, side boxes are some of the most useful features ever, once you have it, you really like them. Sad to see it go. It was a great seller for them, although usually sold at large discounts.

I wouldn't mind owning one myself. Mexican production is the only thing I didn't really like about them.

I wouldn't say they were a great seller ... I think they've been topping out at around 20k/year lately. Not exactly setting the world on fire, especially considering that most full size trucks are moving at least 5 times as many units

Whatever, that's your opinion. A black Avalanche is one hot looking truck.

Well, the older ones with all that grey plastic did look bad. Although ... anything with a lot of grey plastic looks bad, something which the bean counters at GM didn't quite seem to understand in the early 2000's

The new Avalanches look decent enough though.

I never liked the older ones the more recent ones look better though. I would never buy one I tow a 5th wheel trailer and need an actual pickup bed for the hitch. If you like them better get one while you still can.

The Avalanche is the most under-appreciated utility vehicle on the market, and GM will now be handing those truck sales to the Honda Ridgeline. It's a disappointment on both the sales side and the utility side. While magazines berated the truck for being too little like a traditional truck, the Avalanche boasted more space and better handling due to its unibody structure. It wasn't designed for everyone, and people who need a work truck are usually better suited with a Silverado or Colorado, but the Avalanche does have a market and might have benefitted from a restyle had GM put forth the effort to keep it in production. Instead, they created a truck that looks just like GM's other SUVs and failed to advertise the versatility and usefulness of this unique platform. I'm a sports car guy, but if I had a need for a truck, I would be an Avalanche buyer.

LOL It's almost an Aztec pickup. I agree, and the Caddy version is worse. Probly the last Old GM model that need the axe. Long time coming.

Good riddance too, they were innovative when they first came out though.

Pretty sure it rides on a traditional truck/SUV frame

I think he meant that the bed and body were one unit, not a unibody (integrated frame structure) vehicle like a equinox or acadia.
