Another thread. Stock vs Vmax. 31hp increase without a CAI.
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=319697 Personally i noticed a difference in power when I added the roto-fab and a much improved throttle response when I added the Vmax. I also read in another thread that someone dynoed his car with a roto-fab and Vmax only and it was leaning out in higher rpms. So it is possible that for the best gains a tune is needed.

So you have to give up your core? Do they then take your core and port that to sell over again?
So these ported TB's are hand ported then? That would mean all TB are not going to be the same for HP output because each TB cannot be the exact same porting by hand. What is exactly done when porting these TB's. Maybe I could port my core myself and save some cash.

I think core charge is normally $250. I returned my core because that would have been another spare part occupying space that I really don't have. thankfully my VMAX looked just as nice as my stock piece. I would have been very upset otherwise.

Why a $200 core charge? You can get an 87mm OEM TB for 164 bucks on eBay. The ZL1 LSA 87mm TB is the same TB as many other trucks use from GM.
GM OEM 12629992, it is only 164 dollars. http://www.ebay.com/itm/GM-OEM-12629...-/261330500261

Why does it matter? You're paying $350 for a vMax ported throttle body......just return your stocker and get $200 back.
I suppose they could charge you $350 and only give you back $164 for your core if you really wanted them to? You're getting $200 returned to you for a part that costs less than that brand new. I don't see what the problem is. |

Because I don't want to send my original tb. I want to keep it but don't want charged 200 dollars.

In that case I would buy one of the stock throttle bodies you referred to previously and send that in as your core. You can send it in advance and avoid the core charge all together.
