How would you modify this?

Hey there. I just received the diffuser I ordered from ebay. Pics below.

Cost me 150ish, hoping the fitment is good... but bigger issue, or rather,
challenge;

I bought this knowing I would need to modify it to fit quad tips. I really
like it, looks good. Add some paint (eggshell? or semigloss?), and it will
look great. But I need to do something about the exhaust holes.

How would you modify this? I know there's some creative people out there.
I'm thinking heat gun, a large pipe to make sure it expands evenly. Don't
need much, probably 2-3".

If you've got a better idea, I'd love to read about it. Are there tools out
there that can expand a plastic hole with a little heat?

Thanks in advance for any ideas, especially from those who've had to
modify body parts to fit their rides.

I think using heat then working the plastic to make the holes wider will deform the diffuser. Your best bet would be to probably cut it similar to the NPP diffuser.

See ssmike's post in this thread to get an idea of what to do: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=263888

I would have to agree with this.

If this isn't the route you take, be sure to post up how you did it in case others want to know for future use

I would use a dremel to make the cut and a heavy sandpaper to smooth the roundness...

What it looks like now... so you guys think cutting is my best option? I'd probably
have to remove the entire inner lip/rim by cutting right at the bend, then keep going
towards the center, then cutting back downward...

Dremel and some sandpaper... considering it.

What's the difference between the two? Does the new one have bigger "fins" or whatever you call them?

Yup, bigger fins and smooth across the top.

I think cutting the bottom and making the hole a bit more "square" would be the best solution. I think a heat gun would just deform the plastic, and would be more visible.

If cutting is my best option, what do you guys think... #1, 2, or 3?

Maybe add a small black 'U' trim at the cuts...

Here's a cleaner picture of the 1LE (NPP) diffuser I took when installing my quads.

Try not to do the top version. The lower part of this diffuser does not screw into the car the way the factory one does. So to keep as much strength possible, don't make notches, make holes instead. Trust me. I used 4 black tie wraps to secure the bottom edge to the black reinforcemen section that hangs down.

Thanks for the tip! Yours looked great so I thought I'd try one out and modify it for that price. I'd love to see your car from directly behind standing about 10ft back.

I can get a pic looking directly behind it tomorrow after work. Stand by.

And be prepared for other camaros pulling you over to ask where you got the back of your car from

I surprised how many camaros owners are not active in a camaro forum or club somewhere.
