As with any car, yes, they are that fast with a competent driver.

i had an offroad 3in h pipe on the car with the tune for the run in my sig in nice cold air. the gain from goign to it was only like 10ish rwhp, it wasnt worth the noise lol

i took it off tho and have CAI now, the cars making alot more power but the weather is too hot down here lately, best ive done this summer was 12.4x@114 in nearly 90 degree heat

I don't know if people can see this, but this was at Irwindale.

His mods:

5.0 with Mickeys (18") Auto
3.73s
Tune
Intake

My mods:
SS L99
Cam
Ported intake manifold
full boltons
tune
DRs (18")

I barely won that. I was starting to pull in the end. Those 5.0s are REAL quick

We saw 7 tenths gain at the track with nothing but a tune. Car was bone stock minus mufflers. Same track, same evening.

Not as fast as a 5.0 with a tune.

I'd believe it. At Irwindale, and at Fontana though I didn't see his times, there was a guy there with just a tune running 7.9x at 90-91mph there at 1700+ DA in the 1/8 mile on just a tune and 3.73s...he was an auto.

Date:
7/15/11

Approx. time of run:
10:45PM

Owner went from a 13.7@107 to a 13.0@110. Stock 18" Pirelli tires. No other changes made to the car.

The 5.0 has torque management enabled in the stock tune just like the Camaro. This goes for autos and manuals. Disabling makes a huge difference. Add more ignition timing and change the cam timing in conjunction and it makes a world of difference. Totally different animal.

Owner would have broken into the high 12's if he didn't have 50lbs. worth of shit in the trunk and took the spare tire out.

No. Tune and gears only. And after you stopped running is when he ran that 7.9x...And he was pretty large, hefty guy. Told me that he weighed in at like 260lbs+...Lol. Cool dude though. California Special to boot, so he's a little bit heavier overall than your non CS 5.0...

I think it is all in the 300#'s. Pretty much end of story. Greatest driver in the world will run slower with a 300# passenger.
