3.08 & 3.23 gears for GM 9.5" 14 bolt differentials

Anybody have any info on how durable the 3.23 and 3.08 ring & pinion gears are for drag racing & mile runs? The LPE 9.5" diff uses GM 9.5" 14 bolt diff gears and 3.08 or 3.23 gears are options to break 200 mph without shifting into 6th gear and bogging. New 3.42 gears are readily available, but top out at 200.5 mph @6750 rpm.... so not ideal.

For 3.23 or 3.08 gears the only option is to find used gears..... but back to the point - are there known breakage concerns like Richmond had with early 4.xx gears?

Also, any experiences using this for drag racing? At mile hi elevation a 3.08 and 950ish RWHP would keep me from a 3-4 shift and I would think be quieter on the street.

....another question would be who has cracked an LPE diff and under what conditions (power/gearing/auto vs manual)

Usually a 3.08 gear is a lot stronger than a 4.11 as an example.
Your right,not many 3.08 or 3.23 for a GM 9.5

2014 up Silverado some has 3.08 gears in the 12 bolt that is also a 9.5" ring gear setup.Don't know if they interchanged with the older GM 9.5".

You will be exercising a 3-4 shift in the quarter with 3.08's

191mph in the Colorado mile. Will get one MPH faster going with the 3.23's.

Good point..... forgot to change to 28" tires for the 1/4 mile calcs - which would require 6950 rpm. 3.23s and a conservative 6500 shift would be 117.77 mph hitting 4th at 4542. Maybe get the 3.23s and have 3.08s shelfed for growing room later.
