Planning an exterior restoration on my Dads 90' RS

My Dad bought a 1990 RS off his friend when I was a kid and it was my first car. I drove it all through high school and a few years after. One I finally bought my first car I gave it back to my Dad. He still has it and it has a lot of little dings, paint faded and blistering where it wasn't kept well, and some other bad spots were a crummy body shop did minor front end repairs. I always wanted to fix it up and put a 350 in it as it has the 3.1L v6. That aside, I've been thinking of repairing the body and painting. I have knowledge of minor body repairs, preping for paint, and masking but haven't really sprayed. I do have a friend that paints and said he'd paint and train me while doing so and we'd both do the body and prep work. Anyways looking forward into turning the car's exterior back to what it looked like when I was a kid, a deep maroon/ red color( don't know the paint code). My friend seems to think we can do it all for $1000 and thats with him makin' a couple hundred. Not sure if that will be the finale price but hopefully. I'm just looking forward to the outcome. I'll post some pics later of what it looks like now and what it once was if I can find and scan an old photo.
