getting switched 12v from rear view mirror

I hate having the power cord hang from my aftermarket back up camera to the cig. lighter plug. I have a 09 Cadillac that I put an aftermarket back up camera in and wired it into the rear view mirror for switched 12 v, works great.
I want to do the same thing to my 2014 Camaro RS but it has a box attached to the windshield, right next to the rear view mirror. Can I get switched 12 V from that box. What is this box and how do I get into it ?

I see we don't have too many electrical experts on this forum.

And I am not an expert either.

I pulled the wires to disable the on star functions on the mirror since I found the lights annoying. I do not know if it is 12 volts. I also do not know if "borrowing" power from these wires would have any affects on the onstar logic already in place. If not, that could be a solution.

If I remember correctly, the cover is just snapped in. I think if you squeeze the plastic cover it will release. The mirror itself is attached with a screw.

I grabbed the power from the overhead lights, there is a constant and a keyed 12v source up there used it to power my dash camera and the LED map lights I added to my mirror.

the little box is the remote start control and antenna IIRC, not sure I would mess with that..

Just get a multimeter and check yourself before you start hacking into wires

also you could Google mirror tap camaro. I looking to do this to for my DVR GPS camera. Now that I changed out to the frameless mirror. The dangling power cord just bugs me.
