Champion Radiator

My stocker was leaking so I went cheap and picked up one of these off ebay. I tried moving the Trans cooler fittings over today and they dont fit. The champion cooler bungs are too small. I sent them an email through ebay but dont expect a resolution quickly.

Does anyone know the name and size of these fittings? I'd probably be better off just ordering them myself.

These are the two lines coming from the manual 6sp trans into the stock radiator/trans cooler.

Any help is appreciated.

In for a answer as well thinking about this radiator, try PCM Tunning of NC.

I’ve got an email into champion to figure it out, but something isn’t right. They either shipped me the wrong one, or didn’t include the fittings to make it compatible. I’ll give them a chance to respond. They seem to have a good rep.

Everything else lines up.

Let us know what happens! I know I will swap radiators when I put my 427 in.

I’ve sent 3 messages through ebay starting Saturday, no response yet, but its still Monday so in all fairness I’ll give them some time to respond before leaving feedback. However the ebay ad says the trans cooler fittings are 9/16-18 UNF. My stock 2011 SS 6spd fittings appear to be 5/8 and accept 3/8 trans line. I went ahead and ordered 2 9/16 fittings and will report back once I know they fit.

Just a heads up to future buyers, this champion is NOT a %100 “drop in” compatible radiator.

Most all are made in china ,I have never had a problem with 1800radiator .They always ship the right rad and it always fits and has a life time warrantee. We have a ford f150 5.4 that has 500000 miles on it with a 1800radiator that now has 10 years and 400000 miles on it with no problems. It has lasted longer than the ford factory radiator. The best radiator I have used was a Ron Davis (Glendale AZ ) all aluminum radiator for my 05 Hummer H2 that was getting hot in the summer when I put a supercharger on it .After the Ron Davis radiator it ran colder than a whores hart even towing the boat up to lake Powell .It was expensive , but worth the money.

I just don't understand why they would go as far to make this so close in every other regard, yet drop the ball where it really matters. Obviously this is solvable, but still...what a pain in the ass.

So I just heard back from ALL Aluminum Radiators, the ebay seller for Champion.

They say this is the first time they have ever seen a 2010-2015 camaro SS with 5/8 fittings in the trans cooler. That only GM trucks use that fitting.

Since I left 3 messages and waited for them to respond before leaving feedback, they were kind enough to offer a %50 refund. That was nice of them, especially if its true that my camaro is a one off.

Still waiting on the 9/16 fittings to arrive to, but I'm sure they'll fit.

I would love to hear from the rest of the Camaro5 community to see what size trans fittings you have in your radiator.

I got one of the two fittings I ordered from amazon today and it fits perfect. I also checked to make sure my trans line fit inside the 3/8 side of this fitting and it does.

As for final fitment of the radiator, i wont know until I receive my new motor.

TMS is delayed. Waiting on FED heads. Should ship next week...

Another update. I spoke to ALL aluminum radiators who is the main ebay seller for Champion. Champion will now be including the 9/16-18 UNF fittings with each Camaro radiator they sell so this will never happen to another customer, in case you have a camaro with the 5/8 fittings also.

So overall, the customer sevice was great (minus a short delay, every small business gets a brake in my book due to covid-19), the product looks great and by my measurements will fit like the stocker, and is much cheaper than most others out there.

I still think its a good buy.
