MSRC issue (I think)

Had all 4 shocks replaced last week. No errors, I can turn on the various modes, however it doesn't feel like it's actually changing anything. Even in PTM 5 the car seems way too soft. Is there any kind or reset or something I need to do after install?

No reset necessary. If there is no "stabilitrac" message all should be good.

If you drive at 70 and go from tour to PTM 5 if it doesn't bounce hard for a couple of seconds its not working. Assuming you have a coupe and not a vert.

Yes its a coupe. It's like I basically have no struts, bouncing horribly, nearly lost it on the highway at 75 when I hit a decent bump in the road. All 4 corners are new.

Are you certain they are the correct shocks? Who performed the work and who purchased the shocks?

Installed by a local Chevy dealer[/QUOTE] That's scary in itself...

Any codes on the DIC? I assume not or you would have posted.

Did they reconnect the harness for each strut? If they didnt it should have thrown a code for no +-volts at the SCM.

Are the Tour/Sport lights active when selecting?

Hope they didnt break or forget to reconnect the the Strut position sensors for each wheel.

No codes, tour/sport comes on and I can select the modes as normal. They replaced the connectors (something about without a special tool that they didn't have so they needed to be replaced). My childhood friend is the service manager so I know he wouldn't screw me on what was needed.

If the position sensors weren't connected would it throw codes or not switch modes (or maybe thats the connector he was talking about they replaced)?

The connectors they are most likely referring to are the connectors on the struts. You need a depining tool to release them, I just use a very long skinny pair of needle nose, my guess they were just hacks and cut them of because they were to lazy to depin them. If the position sensors were not connected I would think that would be a code becasue the SCM wouldn't see the required Volt range of .25-.4.75V. If your buddy will help you see if they have somebody that has worked on vettes with MRC and they should be able to isolate whats going on quickly. If not have him get a Scan tool and connect to the SCM, it should show the following if good;

Battery Voltage 11-14V
LF,RF,LR,RR Damper actuator in mA, expected value varies.
LF,RF,LR,RR Position Sensor .25-.4.75V
Suspension System Module Tour button NOT pressed - Normal, Tour Button pressed- Comfort, Sport mode, Sport mode pressed - track
Suspension Position Sensor 5 V reference -4.8-5.2 V

If he doesn't see those things probably will need to reprogram, but make sure they know what they are doing, like the battery has to test good and shouldn't have a charger connected while still plugged into AC. If you screw up you may have to replace it. If that scares them I would check out a cadillac dealer they should have someone who has worked on CTS-V's.

Gave the info to my buddy and they are looking into it. I'll update when I get some news.

Thanks!
