Friday night drags, lots of wheel spin with DR.

So I took my car to the drags for the first time. I need to say I was very disappointed with the track prep/conditions. We went to Island dragway in New Jersey because Maple Grove was closed for racing school. There must have been absolutely no track prep. Also they rarely mopped the starting line for all the water cars were dropping there. Enough complaining. My best run was a 12.166 at 116.31 with a 1.929 60'. I got in 6 runs and spun badly on 5 of them, with my MT drag radials. The best pressure i found was 17 psi. I tried lower but got a lot of sway at the top end. I was really hoping for 11s.
I pulled a 1.845 60' with these tires on my SS, so I know i was losing 1-2 tenths or more off the starting line. Hopefully i can get out again this year and get some better launches. Maybe i will try PTM 5 or just feather the clutch more.

Usually the tracks don't get crazy with prep on a street night. Just too many street tires there and most cars are 10 sec. and slower. Your best bet would be to go when there is an event going on. Tues night @ Atco they run a Gambler race and the track is usually good. Try going on Sunday for a test and tune day. Cecil is usually the best prep if you can make it there.

No lift shift feature worked great.

I ran Island last Sat. Same thing, tires spun, felt like oil at the start. Out of 6 runs, three I aborted due to tires just spinning at the start and the back of the car actually lifting. I tried Ppm 4, 5 and nannies off.

A month ago, no spin problems on a busy Sunday.

Some of the super stock guys were experiencing the same thing.

,,,but the air temps here were around 60 degrees or so at that time Friday evening. Plus, it has been very cool over the last week and the ground temps are down. It would have been worse at the Grove, even cooler..., and even less successful unless it was prepped or you had run previously under similar conditions and had a data base to adjust your ride. No track prep you noted, you were traction limited despite the DR's. It's a quirky car. Decent runs though I would ad.....
