Heat Wrap for Headers?
I'm sure some have wrapped their headers to keep from possibly having issues with melting connections, wires, hoses, etc., and I'm thinking about doing it. When I installed my Stainless Power LT headers last week I made sure to zip-tie the O2 sensor harnesses well away from the headers, but I'm a little concerned about the plug wires - some of them are really close to the header pipe. (Photo is worst case, #3 cylinder plug rubber is about 1/4" from header)
Should I be concerned? Should I install some wrap just to be safe? What have others done with their SP LT headers? (I'm specifying that I have SP LTs because I realize different brands have different configurations and may have no issue at all). Thanks for any input.

nothing to worry about usually, you can twist the top connector to actually angle the wire away from the headers on the worst ones that seem to be closer to the headers on mine its number 3 cylinder....

maybe see about a sleeve protector for the wire instead of wrapping the headers.

Add the TR55 in the drop down if you feel like its time for plugs. These wires have the perfect 135* boot angle for header clearance and the socks are added protection from the extra header heat.

Or ceramic coat them and keep your engine bay cooler

I had the same problem OP. I ended up getting some taylor wires. Wires are wires, so if you can find a solution with the stockers, do it.

Also, I would like someone to chime in about heat wrap... I read that its not a good idea because youll cause heat fatigue anywhere the wrap isnt even. Can someone verify if this is real or wack? Thanks..

Thermal Management
Controlling under hood temperatures is mission critical. Coat, wrap and or foil. |

Thanks for the advice everyone.
I really don't like the idea of wrapping the headers - was concerned about the uneven heat flow. No way I'm ceramic coating. The time has passed for that. Now that I've got those headers on they are NOT coming off. Think I'll check with JDP about the "socks".
