Door chime going off? Help!
For the past few days, my remote key fob (I hadn't gone to the recall) wouldn't let me lock the doors, unlock the doors, open the trunk, nor let me remote start. I didn't press the alarm sound, figured it was too risky. Also, everytime I opened the driver door, the chime would turn on. The only time the chime stops is when the door is closed and the key is in the ignition.
I went to Chevy today, and got the recall fix, but they said they had no idea what was going on, and I'd have to create another appointment. I did the key fob programming, which didn't work whatsoever. I tried lubricating my new key and inserted it into the ignition switch in hopes, it was the ignitions problem but nothing. What's going on? Help! |

Update: Fixed it.
Issue:Turns out the car kept thinking there was a key in the ignition key, thus neither the remote nor the driver door could be locked (without physically locking it). The flap was stuck. Solved: Lubed up the key and w/ tweezers got the key flap to act right. |

Door chime going off? Help!
I'm stoked that you took the time to put this post up! I'm having the exact same issue. I thought that might be the case with the ignition thinking the key was still in, but I messed with it so much putting the key in and out and jiggling it that I gave that up as a solution. Gonna try the lube and see if that will get it. I'll report back and let everyone know if this works.

Saved my day again!
Thanks so much for posting this. Not sure how much money you just saved me, but sure enough, that was my problem. Same exact symptoms. I took a look at the ignition and sure enough the little cover was stuck. I put some lube on the key, ran it through a few times, then jiggled it a bit and the cover slid back into place. Now the remote works, door doesn't chime without the key in the ignition and life is good. This website has probably saved me thousands on other issues I have had as well!

Where is the flap located? Is it visible? Does the lock need to come out? Can't see where the lock is released???
TIA, Nick

Mine chimes sometimes after I start and drive down the road.
It was the door electrical connector, had moisture in it.
