Camaro reliability
I am a bit worried of purchasing a Camaro. I notice a lot of posts on here about defects and issues with the car. I don't see many posts on other car sites like I do on here.
How would you guys rate the over all reliability of the Camaro? |

I have never had a problem. I have almost 10,000 miles on mine. I will say what I tell everyone who asks about reliability of a vehicle. If you take care of it, it will take care of you. You cannot get a Camaro and not take care of it and expect it to be reliable. Take care of it and you will be fine. If you do have problems and you buy new then it will be covered under warranty.

72,100 Miles on my 2011 that I have had for 4 years 4 months, not one major problem!! These are very reliable. What you are reading is thousands of owners talking about a few problems and how it was fixed. I have to say, when you hear the phrase,"Fun to drive." This car is just that! Get one!!

Car has been good. I've had much worse and I've also had better, as far as reliability. No issues out of warranty yet.

Keep in mind that many of the people having problems are the driver's who track their car, race it around the streets, modify and cause additional stresses on the stock design, and etc. Take away the "riding it hard and hanging it up wet," and it's a very reliable and well built machine.

Some of the people on here have nothing good to say, they only complain or claim there is something wrong with their Camaro. I would say 99% of the owners on here have not had any issues and no one ever starts and thread on how much they love their car, its only done to complain, and thats the truth!

After two years and almost 20K miles, all I've had to address was a bad MyLink radio (replaced under warranty). With 100K units per year for four+ years, there's bound to be issues. And as Muscle Car Memories stated (paraphrasing), people are always quick to complain but slow to give praise.

Not many problems with mine - Have to look at the big picture... "ALL" cars are built by humans. weather they work or worked at a GM plant, Ford plant, both plants, they can only do what they do best. If there are defects, more than likely, a human initiated the error, even if it is some defective part the plant bought, more than likely, a human assembled it. That said - buy what you want, and deal with the issues as they arise....

I've had mine for about a year now, 13k miles on it, two oil changes and have had no major issues, beside speeding! But I've yet to get a ticket for that, and let's hope it stays that way! These cars are reliable if YOU TAKE CARE OF IT.

You also have to take into account, people don't praise their car when it's working great, whoever they will be very quick to complain online when it breaks.
All cars break, sure some may have fewer major problems, but honestly major problems these days are fairly un-common. My brother has owned his 2010 over 2 years now and it has almost 70k miles, he has had 0 issues outside normal maintenance. I've had my 2010 for over a year and it's well out of warranty, 44k miles and no issues either. Keep in mind, our 2010s are almost 6 years old now.
